Quick synopsis

This mod introduces the colonial and cylon factions to the Sins of the Fallen universe. Both races will be playable with any of the planets, addons, and races included in Sins of the Fallen including the stock races. Both the colonial and cylon's factions will be balanced against the stock factions to support this approach.

Colonial Fleet

Relying on heavily armored and armed ships the colonial fleet is always on the defense looking for cylon incursions. Lacking shields of any kind Battlestar Point Defense systems are used to intercept incoming weapons and minimize damage to nearby frigates and cruisers supporting the fleet.

Colonial Fleet

Quoting Stalcore,
Looks great. One question though the Nova class battlestars were Flagship of the colonies it should have a type of moral boost as an ability.

That was the intent with VI. Unfortunately I don't have a good model for the Nova class (I thought there was one, but there wasn't a good quality texture with it and that's beyond my ability I'm afraid).

If I find a Nova class battlestar it will have a VI.

I am really excited about this mod. That new valkyrie looks absolutely incredible (that was Koobalt right?) and I think the research centre is a really clever way to use the zephyr as BSG has no equivalent buildings. The Viper Mk2 also looks very nice now (was that the new model for sot13th?) and I look forward to seeing what you do with the cylons.

Quoting ZombiesRus5,
@Yanxa - Not sure on that yet. They may just become Galactica and Pegasus class ships as some lore suggests.

I'm a little bit confused by this - do you mean, like, they will be titled Galactica and Pegasus class, much like the Kol and Akkan, or, as in, you will be keeping the names on all the pods to symbolise class?

Also, the Pegasus-class is actually a Mercury-class, as stated in the show, while Galactica hasn't got a definitive class.

Well, I was more speaking to Galactica which some suggest being its own class as well as being Jupiter or Columbia class.

In regards to the Pegasus it was more that its commonly confused as it's own class and for a mods purpose wouldn't be to unacceptable.

I haven't really decided yet and may lean more towards generic if the naming can be removed easily from the sides as I was originally intending. It will basically depend on the texture. If I remove the name on this side it will be the class of Columbia(or Jupiter) and Mercury for example. If I don't remove the name the classes will be Pegasus and Galactica.

Quoting ZombiesRus5,
Quoting philothanic, reply 16really like the texturing. especially on what looks like the corrected Valkyrie model. How did you get that anyway? (rhetorical question).
Well the model is actually made by kyogre12 and hasn't been released yet. The other Valkyrie is lacking in visible turrets.

Quoting ZombiesRus5,

When I was trying to figure out the same naming problem, the closest thing I found to a consensus about the issue online is that the Galactica-class and Columbia-class were two different but very similar classes. Apparently the Columbia as seen in Razor is slightly bigger than the Galactica and has more armor plating or something along those lines.

What I got from the various screen caps of the Razor flashback, the Columbia is basically a newer version of the Galactica class.  I've also seen Galactica referred to as a Columbia-class battlestar in some places.  Adding to the confusion is the fact that there was more than one Columbia in the series: the one destroyed in the first Cylon war (Razor) and the one destroyed in the second Cylon war (Miniseries).  Here's the best picture I could find of the Columbia destroyed in the first Cylon war: http://en.battlestarwiki.org/wiki/File:Col1.jpg

This implies that Galactica is older than even the first Columbia, giving more weight to the Galactica being a Galactica-class battlestar and the Columbia-class being a refit of the Galactica-class with more armor, a larger size, and more advanced systems.

The general consensus is that the Pegasus is in fact a Mercury-class battlestar.  Valkyrie-class is officially named and correct for that type.

That's really nice looking! I like it a lot and am really looking forward to getting to the cylons eventually.

I've just decided to rework all the models and texture sheets for the Colonials and mix some things around first.

I can send a couple of models for you to look at. I'd really like a Nova class battlestar but it won't break the bank if I can't get it.

Right, well kyogre12 responded on his. Koobalt's is the the Thor class battlestar shown above.

The BSG wiki had some comments on the Zephyr being refitted for research purposes which kinda prompted me to do that, plus I want the BSG faction to feel like you are in that universe and want to use all BSG oriented models for the different units.

Also the MkII and MkVII are Coxxon's viper's with some polygon reductions. The old models were good, I just like the look of these a bit more.

Do you use windows Live Mesh. They seem to have the bugs worked out.

I am sharing my mods and the XSI project and can invite you to one or all of the folders.

Sharing mods over live mesh requires a small program to turn a deep directory into a drive letter.
I made  C:\Users\myfist0\AppData\Local\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\ into S:\. Then I tell Live Mesh to share S:\Mods-Diplomacy v1.32\Sins of the Creator and S:\Mods-Diplomacy v1.32\SotC - Add Hiigaran and so on. Works great.

Download VSubst_1.0.6.exe Free

The XSI project is also shared on dropbox and can invite that way as well. Get a model database going and backups.

Here's a retexture of the Asgard battlestar from sot13t.

Edit - I added a few more turrets to the insets (not in this picture) on the side but will need to re-hardpoint it to make use of them.

The model is by Kyogre12 the UV is by me.

Yes the Thor is my model, and if i think correctly the Asgard is too my model (if that's colonial cruiser), and the Jupiter not listed here i don't know if ZombieRus5 will use it.

For cylon it's Boomer class and Guardian MK2, and Colony (perhaps new cylon starbase)

Ah cool. I decided to retexture the Asgard as the model was very nice. On the turrets I basically duplicated some to the insets.

On the Jupiter basically the tangent is not quite right causing weird lighting. If you still have the original model I can correct the tangent.

The colony would make a pretty sweet starbase!

Thanks! I personally very much like Battlestar Galactica. I grew up with the original (TOS) and really enjoyed the re-imagined (TRS) series. The TOS is definately more campy but was good fun while the TRS was more space drama and very well done.
