yes, creepy.  and the 6-winged Seraphim were covered in eyes. That could also server as cool inspiration for a ship.  except instead of eyes, lasers.

nah.

I go for sci-fi myths over dark age myths. If that's what I'm after, I'll pop in Lord of the Rings.

Anything Old Testament isn't Dark Age, so there's a whole book you're clear to have at.

Well, since the definition of 'Dark Age' is pretty absolute, I guess you just prefer myths of what may be over what supposedly was.

That and Star Wars, cause it already happened way over there.

Well, if you're trying to call me on my ignorance of any knowledge on that subject: you got me. I have none.

Quoting Ryat,
And there is no book of Hezekiah.
See? No knowledge.

On a side note, what do you call the age of swords, shields, armor, mysticism and such? That's kind of what I was aiming for.

It depends on what metallurgy was used. Bronze for Bronze Age, Iron for Iron Age, etc. Dark Age was when a lot of knowledge was lost due to climatic events (famines, disease, etc.) and suppression by use of religion. Including what the Bible actually said versus what the man on the pulpit said. A rather sad time in man's history.

... I don't know. I guess the age from the Roman empire to the start of the renassance?

On topic: I'd like to see something about corvettes. Just to get an idea of what they're aiming for. For Titans, we all knew what they would be like (obviously, we didnt/dont know details); and they are cool to see, I admit it. But the corvettes, no one knows for sure where they fit in or have an idea of how many corvettes each faction gets. Some concept art for these would give us the gist of the intended role.

That's true. Are they individually built vessels like frigates? Do they come in squads like fighters? Are tehy built attached to a larger vessel or are they free roaming? And how are they going to count against fleet supply? And what are the varieties?

I have to admit that I am also concerned about whether or not they'll be terribly useful. In Homeworld, corvettes are more useful in #1 than #2 paritally because there is less AA in #1 and #2 dumbed down their evasive maneuvers. I can't imagine how that will work in Sins, where dynamic movement only exists for fighters and, even then, doesn't offer much evasion. Will corvettes be flak fodder or will any cannon aim for them? Are we looking at quantity or quality?

edit: Love the sexy Advent, Riddleking. I'll join that Unity.

Agreed, the next thing I'd like to see are some corvette class ships.

I would love to see them as heavy squadrons. Dealing more damage than the squadrons we have now and being more durable. On the downside, it would take much longer to replace and rebuild corvettes that get destroyed in battle.

They should also get some nifty abilities, as I think that was mentioned.  I wonder if the different factions will have different techs for them, within the same race.  There's no telling what those could be but some concept art to tide us over would be very welcome.

I wonder if, among the classes, they'll have your usual stock: Light, multi-gun, heavy, maybe even a mech-gun or tulwar design.

corvettes are the G.I.Joes of any fleet with over-powered offensive abilities. They can single handley infiltrate enemy lines without being detected and cause serious damage.

In other words: There the mini super weapons you can get mid game.

Immune to turrets and phase jump interrupts.

dunno about without detection, but they should be powerful skirmishers that can cause havoc and, if used right, take out choice targets. Immunity to turrets and jump interrupts depends on which way the devs ultimately go.

yeah the "without detection" phrase was just too catchy to leave out.

Well, looking at the current armor classes, I would expect something in the medium and/or very light class. Both are because theres currently only 1 ship type with each of those classes. As for attack type, antimedium is only held by the almighty LRF. Of course, it's possible theres new armor classes and attack types.

So.... I wonder if a few corvettes added might make an alternative series of counters to the Light Frigate that isnt countered by LRF? This takes away the validity of a massive swarm of LRF. If I counter your LF swarm with corvettes that do anti-medium and have very light/light armor, your counter would be either fighters or flak, both of which are counters for LRFs as well.

Plus, I would imagine that corvettes, if they are smaller than frigates, would be cheaper than most frigates, and so I could get alot more of them. Meaning, I could out-swarm your LF swarm.

Well, if the corvettes are anything like these, they will be a game changer.

As far as the concept art, they are a radical departure from what we know.

Advent Titan 1

This Advent ship look like a carry over from a 'Diplomacy' pact with the Vasari.

Vasari Titan 2

This Vasari vessel looks like a Manta Ray from from a demented Vasari to rage psychological hell on humans.

But this one, it has the smoothness of Advent ships, but that circular disk above. Floating shield, Frisbee of death. WTF!!!

It also have shades of a Vasari pact in ship design. All in all, Rebellion will be the must have RTS game for 2012. After getting and playing this game, only thing left is to sit back and wait for the world to end. Maybe??

Yeah, could be a while at this rate.

@ Bison: Yeah, I feel that Homeworld has set a standard for me in many ways. It's a beautifully designed game. If you have number two, try getting the Complex expansion.
