As most of us know, there are two main communities in Sins of a Solar Empire, one for multiplayer and one for modding. Bar the occasional group of friends playing a mod on ICO together however, these two communities rarely interact with each other, besides occasional discussions of game balance.

Therefore I propose a little icebreaker in the true Sins fashion, complete with the typical disintegration of metal, screams of nuked worlds, and if we're lucky even the rare space pony sighting, that we've all come to know and love, regardless of which form of Sins we get most of our entertainment from. Yes, I think its time for the first ever Pro Player vs Modders MP game!

Of course as we are meeting in the Pro player's home court, I think in the interest of a semi-interesting game the modders will need a team advantage of some sort. Any ideas on the exact number of players on each team as well as the best time to arrange this will be welcome (I'd guess sometime on Thanksgiving weekend). And of course, if you're interested do let us know.

I'd like to have one pro player sort of be in charge of the logistics of making the game who promises to be there, presumably if any of the other pros don't show we can find substitutes at the game launch. As modders don't often log on to ICO don't commit unless you're sure you can make it at whatever time we agree on. Also if possible I think it would be nice for as many different mods as possible to be represented, but obviously filling the roster comes first.

So, I'm seeing games like Endless Space and Legends of Pegasus and Gemini Wars...and I'm thinking, maybe I should try those games instead of working on my Sins mod...

Quoting ZombiesRus5,
I should be free, but with a hard stop around 2am (work).

I'd like to get as many people for a fairly longish game but it shouldn't take that long... assuming people do show by around 9-10 EST.

Quoting Seleuceia,

I've actually been breaking up the monotony with what games I've collected on sale but never played yet. So far a bit of Master of Orion 1 & 2 (from a guy who makes a 4X mod they're actually the first true 4X games I've played...) and wilk probably have to give Empire: Total War another go this summer.

But anyways, are you up for a match this weekend Seleuceia? I could use the input of a more balanced oriented person.

Quoting GoaFan77,
Empire: Total War

No!  Shogun 2!  It's so much better...won't claim it's perfect, but better...

I want to play, it's just that I'm busy on weekends

I haven't even had time to properly mod rebellion...hell, I haven't even finished my entity editing program...makes me very sad...

And I need to fix my microphone...the work I have to do just to play a game for fun, I tell you...

There's a chance I might get on Sundays, so have hope, you may see me yet!

Probably is, I couldn't even play Empire when it first came out so I haven't touched it in all these years. But I really have no particular interest in any Japanese history before Oliver Perry paid them a visit, so I won't be getting it. I'll give the series another go with Rome: TW2 maybe, or if they do something new that also interests me.

I haven't either besides testing random things. I still need to finish my things for Diplomacy!

Don't worry, Me, Zombie, Sinperium and Ryat played a game on Saturday without anyone using a microphone.

Actually, I completely forgot my Sister's graduation is Saturday... maybe Sunday will be better for me too. I'll still try and make it Saturday though...

Oh trust me I still want your intelligent feedback Carbon. But Seleuceia's entire project is on balance so I would think he'd give just as good feedback as you do.

There's a fine line, Carbon, between "Goa, I think the cooldown on that ability is a little long" and "Goa, you mother &*$%$#, I #$#@ing hate bombers!"

LOL. I just rant. Not sure if this is classifed as intelligent. But the other guys, they might be of more service to you. Just didnt want them to be excluded. Thats right, Im looking out for everyone.

So what your really trying to say is, my feedback isnt helpful? I find this example very helpful. I provided valuable insight into the fact bomber are broken and stupid. Not to mention rage inducing.

Ive heard Corvettes have the same effect on people. *cough* Ryat *cough*

ROFL.

Seleuceia, you just keep that "Range Locked In". You been handselected by the Music Man himself.

In other related news, I wish to extent my apologies to Imperium of Sin, Cyat Rebirth, and The Boshi Armada. They now join the silent ranks along side Goacian Nation.

Next time folks...make better friends and tell your people not to Pew Pew against Zombie. His people/zombie/whatever they are, show now mercy.

Its ok, I soon will to feel the cold wrath of the Horde.

Did I miss out on a game of D&D or something?  Can I be, like, the Lollies that Go Pop?  Or the Pudding Cup of Jiggling?

There's the new Fall of the Samurai standalone expansion for Shogun 2 that starts in 1864.  Modern enough for you?

Hmm, maybe. Though that doesn't change the fact that I already own Empire for better and for worst, and will not be willing to pay full prize for a creative assembly game ever again.

Also, I maybe able to play a very quick game tonight if anyone's interested.

Goa, if you aren't really into the time period, don't waste your money....it's a great game but it's far from perfect and while I love the era, I totally sympathize with you...Total War games just aren't as cool if the time period isn't your thing, main reason why I don't play empire any more...

Can't wait till Rome II (assuming it is made)...that is definitely my favorite...

DUDE THEY ARE AWESOME...plus they were silver which is my favorite color...it's like it was destiny for me...

Downside was that they had a really rought start to deal with...course, some of the mods made them so OP but so much fun to play...
