Im sure many people have many questions about the steam issue but I have one huge question. I pre ordered about 6 or 7 months ago off of impulse and now there is possible news about Rebellion becoming exclusivley on steam. So what will happen to us who pre ordered before all this? Any help would be awesome!

Did you preorder off Impulse or the Sins website? I did not think it was possible to preorder off of Impulse (just as you can't with steam). Therefore you'll most likely just get a steam code with the preorder and not have any relation to Impulse.

I pre-ordered a day ago... and it was still through Impulse.

I'm sure it will all transfer over.  Steam is only the delivery method, Impule is the purchase location.

I have but one question: how do I get my money back?

Oh god I can see my friends in the gaming circle ridicule me to no end for recomanding Sins Rebellion.  First it was SOTS2, now this.  I'm done with PC gaming.  I'll only play boardgames and whatever I can get on my tablet from now on.

Well I didn't have to touch Impulse, so you clearly don't have to go through it if you don't want to.

Just play open source games or oldies. They're actually a good amount of them available, maybe they'll last you until a real competitor comes along. If you get heavily into the mod scenes of some of these games it will last even longer.

I imagine you can cancel the pre order through "My Account" in the Stardock store, considering you haven't be charged yet.

Minecraft is a great indie title with none of this crap. It won't last you forever and it ain't for everyone but a fun distraction none the less and a way of supporting games outside the corporate giants. I applaud Notch for what he did and am still enjoying it reasonably often.

Originally I think Notch was working towards a deal with Valve (he has some personal contact with them, including a custom TF2 hat ). But I think minecraft became so commercially successful he decided he really didn't need to make any more money and to continue the project as he wanted. So yes, I second that recommendation if it interests you, and as some hope that not all indie games will be tied to Valve.

You don't... because pre-order was never charged... Stardock don't have receive one $ from pre-order... transaction will be concluded only when they deliver the product...

So, you can cancel your pre-order if you wish but don't wait after some money back that you have not yet pay...

So how do I cancel my preorder so I am not charged in the future? Seriously dude your knit-picking is hardly helpful.  If you can't be helpful then don't bother replying, you just waste my time reading your drivel.

All Rebellion pre-orders are with Stardock only at the present time. They were not transferred with the sale of Impulse to GameStop and you can not pre-order from any other reseller.

Well, ask the right question and you will have the right reply... don't need to become somehow insulting and agressive because your little brain is not capable to formulate the right question... and about wasting time, it is you who waste my time by asking question A but hoping a reply to the non writen question B...

Your question "how do I get my money back?" is not the same that "how do i cancel a pre-order?"

About pre-order, you can find some info at http://esupport.stardock.com/index.php?/Knowledgebase/List/Index/106/pre-orders but about cancel a pre-order, info is found at http://esupport.stardock.com/index.php?/Knowledgebase/Article/View/329/94/can-i-cancel-a-pre-order ...

Emailing sales is the easiest way to handle this.  Be sure to tell why you are cancelling.  It matters to us.

Something tells me a good number of them are  gonna have Steam listed in the reasons.

yarlen & zubaz, I have major issues with the compolsory use of steam, as it breaches the security status of networks that have computers with it(steam) installed on, in, and I NEED to maintain the security status of MY network so that I can continue to handle customer's data in a secure environment. also I do NOT intend to play online OR care about achievements, so steam will be of NO benefit to me, but if I can NOT use/install rebellion I will NOT be able to create /update utilities FOR rebellion which WILL hurt the modding community a small amount.

I would like a second version (using the same data files, BUT NOT having ANY online potential & therefore NO STEAM), but I realise that it would take a bit more time and processing to test and develop.

To be quite honest, if you're working in a secure environment then (unless you're the owner), installing games on work machines in the first place is probably a violation of ISO policy... and even if it isn't, you shouldn't install anything on a system that doesn't absolutely need to be there if it's handing NPI of any kind. That's what non-secure machines and DMZs are for.

kyro, it IS my network(as in I OWN (outright, no mortgages or loans against) the building, all wiring, network switches, routers, AND computers that are USUALLY connected to the network and the wiring IS STP not utp with ZERO electromagnetic emmisions), BUT as there is occasionally customer computers in the premises for fixing of problems, I must maintain the security of all computers that are attached to the network to minimise the risk of loss of data/privacy of my customers' data and I also prepare discs for the fighting of problems in the field on my computers they REALLY NEED the security rating.

In that case, sounds like all you'd really need to do is set up some segregated subnets... you wouldn't really want customer PCs on your internal network anyway, who knows what they've got on them (worms, etc).

they are NOT connected to the network until they are proven clean, but part of the proving is to mount the customer's hard drive(s) as slave drives in my own computers and do complete sweeps of the drives with my computer's cleaning tools, and considering that I have 18 working computers of my own and only three eight port gigabit switches there is not enough spare connections to be able to rig subnets with adequate seperation (ie total except for the modem) and that would also require me to build another one  cacheing proxy computer(approx $400 each PLUS electricity) per subnet it starts to get expensive.

and each of my computers has their own copy of a software firewall, antivirus, several anti-spyware/malware programs and are off except when needed.

No.  If you purchased on the Stardock Store you'll get a key you can put into Steam to register your game.

I emailed to cancel but didn't know to include why, just so it's officially out here somewhere in text so you all know, Steam is the reason why.

Ok, I'm a little confused. I pre-ordered Rebellion from Stardock in Sept. of '11. When I get my code for the expansion, will it only be for Steam, and not for Gamestop? I currently have Sins of a Solar Empire Trinity via Gamestop(Impulse when I purchased a retail copy of the game), will I have to purchase Sins again on Steam in order to enjoy the Rebellion expansion?

No, you will just have to download and activate it with Steam, because Steam is a third party client to GameStop.
