Activating Sins: Rebellion (or any Stardock game on Steam) Through Steam

The beta for Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion is going out, and in case you weren’t aware you will need to install and use Steam to get access to the beta.  If you are new to Steam or not familiar with adding games, then this is a quick how-to so you can get it done quickly and get gaming sooner!

Download Steam - http://store.steampowered.com/

You can find your Rebellion key in your Stardock account or in your beta e-mail.

Once you have your key and Steam installed, open Steam.  At the bottom left click ‘Add a game’ and select ‘Activate a Product on Steam’.

Next you have a new window with a couple of screens with agreements, instructions, etc.  You will then be prompted to enter your key.

After that, you will get confirmation and install info screens.

That’s just about it.  You can click the downloading  area at the bottom of Steam to open up your downloads, and you can also view them from your Steam library.

i hate steam. if u lose your account access they wont recover your info if u have no idea what your old info was. like my old email address no longer exists and when steam redoes the account they wont transfer cd keys at all. impulse was easy. gamestop is easy and so is stardock. hopefully stardock takes over as the game loader of choice and let me have access to rebellion. in the meantime i have no access to rebellion and yet i paid for it. so i really hope steam doesn't have full access to rebellion

Hello Glen,

Thank you for contacting Steam Support.

Per the Steam Subscriber Agreement, Steam game subscriptions / CD keys are nontransferable and cannot be moved between Steam accounts.

Similarly, accounts cannot be merged together.

all right assholes once again. how do i play my paid game when u wont move the cd key to the acct? u pricks messed it all up and i figure you would learn. now u won't let me play my paid game? wait until rebellion if final. someone else will have the same problem like i have and you will treat them the same shitty way. get over it. u have all my info on file yet u are such pricks to prevent me from playing my paid game. now i am left with frustration to go publicly online and expose you sons of a bitches for the bullshit u have pulled.

so u will never learn? in my line of work i have to put up with all levels of stubbornness and vile language yet u guys have no certainty. all i asked was to resolve my original info pertaining to old email be updated to new one. it took unbelievable inactivity from u b4 u gave in. i had to insult and push real hard b4 it was solved. now in doing so one would notice by changing on your part would deny me access to the new game. nope, you didn't see the point. that is why i have to resort to vile language and yet u guys have no compassion nor understanding what u did wrong. by changing things u locked me out of new game. all this did was prove a point to the public how low u guys go and how lacking the insight and ability to solve things. so what next? u will lock me out and further prove my point that your company can not handle any requests beyond basic comprehension. like i said earlier i work in a open and constantly adapting environment. i am a taxi driver and i always work with the customer in all directions. if i ever met u guys and u gave me grief i absorb and solve the problem most diligently. presently u guys restrict and just can't see beyond your shoes. i see so far in advance to the point to solve problems help the business grow. this situation just shows how restrictive u are and how lacking any care, compassion and understanding to promptly resolve the problem. see no vile language but i know u will not solve the dilemma.

I bought it tonight and I have the key but it says I have to use stream to install and run??!?!?!?!  I installed stream but can not find where to download?   HELP Please!!!!!!

All the information you need should be in the original post.  If you're having trouble with any of the steps, in which one is there trouble?  Are you getting any errors?  Please be as detailed as possible.

How long does one have to typically wait for a response from support?

Generally within two business days, though it varies based on workload.  We're closed on weekends, so we're usually working through that backlog on Monday and Tuesday.

Also, make sure not to respond multiple times to a ticket unless you have needed information to relay, as we order off of last reply date, so multiple replies will move your ticket back to the end of the line.

Hey so I pre-ordered the full collectors edition and the only thing that shows up on my downloads section of stardock is that my full collector is ready for download, but when I click it I get the following error message:

404 - File or directory not found.

The resource you are looking for might have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable.

 

I JUST got the package today and I'm really stoked to play but I can't without the product key. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!

As a collectors item and I guess it will make it so you only have to download a small update to the latest version, so it helps those with limited bandwidth. A lot of people asked for it anyways even though I don't understand why you'd want it either. Some people just don't feel comfortable unless they have something on physical media, even though without steam I think it's useless.
