Rebellion Collector's Edition

Stardock has said that they are working on a collector's edition for Rebellion, but have not given much details on it, except that it would be in boxed form direct from Stardock only, and that if they do decide to do it (they seem to be not sure as of yet) it will have something very big in it.

I know that this is exactly the thing I have been waiting for from Rebellion, and I am more excited for the collector's edition than I am for any of the added game play features. I was really disappointed when Stardock said that they had canceled a retail boxed edition, but I would be devastated if they did not release the collector's edition.

If they did release a collector's edition, I would be overjoyed and buy it as soon as possible. That would more than make up for the canceled retail edition, because I would always like a nice collector's edition more than a regular retail version. I cannot emphasize enough how important it is to me that Stardock send Sins of a Solar Empire out with a bang (in terms of boxed awesomeness), especially as after Rebellion the next Sins of a Solar Empire will likely be a number 2, and that won't be for a long while.

That said, I have some recommendations for what to include to make this collector's edition fantastic. I was disappointed with the stuff in the regular Sins collector's edition, and saw no reason to buy it especially as I could get the sweetest part, the soundtrack CD, in the Game of the Year Edition. I don't see any need for a tech-tree poster this time (I personally think they are dumb).

These are just some shots of the (in my opinion) mildly disappointing Sins of a Solar Empire Collector's edition.

However, I feel that a new soundtrack CD is badly needed, as the additions made in the micro-expansions and now Rebellion will substantially increase the musical library of Sins. So much that it might take more than one CD to hold all of the game soundtrack. But this is exactly what I want in this collector's edition: I want the entire Sins of a Solar Empire soundtrack with all of its additions in CD form. I bought the Game of the Year edition for exactly this purpose, but now with the additions I feel it is that time when there should be a new soundtrack released. Because I do so enjoy the music of Sins of a Solar Empire.

As far as that big thing goes, what I would very much like would be a model of one of the titans or capital ships on a display stand with a little placard telling the name of the ship and "Sins of a Solar Empire Rebellion" in an awesome font. What would make it even more awesome is of the ship was in its faction colors and insignia. And to top it all off, have a little hatch to open where batteries could be placed to make the ship light up.

Other things that would make the collector's edition of Rebellion great would be a big, thick manual in color containing little pictures of the ships for each faction and a little back story behind them, a great, thick paperboard box with cool screen shots and a little summary of how awesome Sins Rebellion is. I always put my favorite game boxes up on display in my room and I always read through the manual of the game when I am installing it or when I get very bored. A small, hardcover art book containing concept art of the ships and some small interviews with the concept artists would also be very nice to include.

I am very confident that Sins of a Solar Empire Rebellion will be awesome, but I fear that Stardock will cancel the collector's edition merely because it would be a lot of work and a lot of money. To that I say I will pay whatever it takes to purchase one of these, even if it is $100. It better have the coolness to back its price up.

If anyone has any information about the collector's edition that I missed or has any ideas or things to say about it, feel free to post them here.

Hi,

what scares me a bit is the question: "If I pre-order, and then I am asked if I want a CE, what do I have to pay?", and the second question is: "If I dips, and even though do not get a CE, how can I however get a physical copy of Rebellion without buying a complete new one?"

Greetings

-RF-

Will there be a version of game without the resin model? I would be interested in the nice shiny box with a physical copy of the game, but i dont want/need that model...

There will not unless you live in Australia or New Zealand. Then you will be able to purchase a boxed copy from a retailer near you from our partner All Interactive Entertainment.

I AM in australia, in the IT industry and have NOT heard of this mob 'All Interactive Entertainment', but like america, there are a lot of fly by night mobs that pop up AND disappear frequently. and do not bother to track the buggers.

I find it funny, Inpute (wow, really similar to my name), how you post about how you have a new thread about the collector's edition when this IS the thread about the collector's edition. However, if you think that you can do it better (you obviously have ImperatorPavel's full support, as he gave you karma for it), then by all means go ahead. I won't stop you. Hey, maybe it is nice to have a bit of competition in town.

Since now there are two other collector's editions threads in town, I figure it would be a good time to give an update on the collector's edition information compiled so far. I won't try to repeat myself, though, as basically all of the collector's edition knowledge known to date has been compiled on this thread. You just have to be a patient reader, because at this point there are over 80 posts here over 4 pages. I hope it can get up to 100 replies before Rebellion comes out.

Here are the only two pictures to date of the collector's edition.

This is a picture of the resin Kol model that comes with the collector's edition, which is hand painted in the picture because it is a prototype. Official models will be machine painted.

This is a mystery picture. Is it the cover of the game box? Or is it maybe the hardcover of a game manual? Or an art book? No information has been given on exactly what this is of, not even that it is part of the collector's edition. Seems logical that it is, though.

I am tremendously glad to see such an interest in the collector's edition, as when I made this post there was very little. It sat dead for a month even until Yarlen saw fit to revive it, after which it has been reasonably active. Even if it means that other people decide to make their own collector's edition posts, I like to see that other people care like I do.

I thought I would be a good idea to keep all information in the first post.  While this thread may or may not have the same information, I, like most people, wouldn't want to read four pages of posts to find it all.  I didn't consider your thread a compilation thread.  I, personally, don't care.  I just like Ibnpute's thread because he put all the information in his first post, making it easy to reference.

Actually, your thread had competition before ibnpute's thread anyway.  I've lost count as to how many Rebellion CE  threads have been made, as well as Rebellion Retail threads (there will not be a Rebellion retail version), etc...

Now wait a minute, I've been using Inpute as a username for all of my online gaming for the past 3 years. Also, I already posted those two images on my thread way before you just did. You basically just took the pictures and information I had found with them and reposted it here. But I do give you credit for some of the other information. The only reason I made my thread about the CE was to keep people informed and give them the whole package of information about it in one simple post while also building up some interest in a well made, content filled Collectors Edition.

Okay, I am sorry for my mistake, Inpute. I apologize. I had this mad imagining that you were just shortening my name, and that was totally not correct.  And yes, it was you posting those pictures on your thread that prompted me to post them on mine. I guess I had just not really found it important before, as I thought that anyone who wanted to see the pictures would just follow the links posted by the Stardock people, IslandDog and Yarlen.

And I am sorry for my thinking that my post was better than everybody else's, ImperatorPavel. It's quite possible that many people see Inpute's post and find it a lot more informative than mine. Which is actually true, at the moment, because his thread takes ALL the information from all of those links you posted and compiles it very succinctly into one thread. I suppose not many people want to go through my 4 pages just to get the same information they could get in just a quarter of a page on Inpute's post.

I was just being a little, I guess, protective of my territory. And a bit rude to people that I owe a lot to. ImperatorPavel, you gave me just the little bit of information I needed to let me know that it is very possible that I should have the chance to get a collector's edition. Inpute, you helped me realize that I should stop trying to be the one person that has a thread about the collector's edition.

The territory really isn't mine at all. As evidenced by the threads ImperatorPavel cites, I was neither the first one to ask for the collector's edition nor the one most knowledgeable about it. I am sorry for being rude earlier and I apologize.

Here, have some more karma.

Thanks for the apology, the same as inpute says.

Oh yeah, for both your guy's posts;

Quoting ImperatorPavel,
You'll still have a chance at getting it, if those who preordered it didn't buy all of them before you can buy one.  I figured preordering would ive me something else other than access to the beta.

I'm pretty sure all this information is on Ibn's thread.  If not, it should be.

Quoting Yarlen,
What he said.

Just for your info.

Apparently I'm replacing Yarlen.

Damn you, Yarlen! The link doesn't work! (It does, however, work if you just copy it into the browser. I think you just put an extra space on the front.)

Also, thanks for the additional info. I'm even more excited now. Heck, I'd be playing right now, but my workplace frowns upon that.

People who have pre-ordered will get first shot at purchasing.  There are very limited quantities so the best chance will to go pre-order customers.

That is an awesome CE, totally worth pre-ordering for!

After this can you guys make more resin models of Sins Cap ships to purchase seperately?

I need a Radiance Battleship and a Vulkoras Desolator so that I can have space battles with them while no one is watching.

While possible it's not likely. The time to manufacture them is actually pretty long and they're quite expensive.
