Performance Issues for large maps

Hello all,

Does anyone else get performance issues with big maps and/or 6-8 faction games.  I've been playing Sins since the game was first released years ago and this has always been a problem, and quite frankly is the number one issue with this game.  I'm running above specs for my system, and I've tried all the in-game options to mitigate this, however it has never worked very well.  Even the Sins Optimization Mod didn't address big game slowdown.  Is this everyone else's experience?

I agree but only upon all 6 factions or more gaining a large fleet & or trade ships flying around, but when it hits the point of 1000+ vessles flying around, the game does noticeably slow down with the odd spike now and again, but i'v had this since Trinity, it's just the amount of ships on the screen at once. I have a decent spec'd computer running a Quad Core 3.6Ghz & 8GB of DDR3 1600Mhz Ram, interesting why it still laggs.

It may be that game doesn't have multi-core support and is only using one core. Just notice that my CPU never goes above 50% when playing the game, and since I am still using a dual-core and have the same issue, and I never break the 50% barrier with it, it probably isn't using the other core.

The game was built on an old 2008 engine. Rebellion is just an updated version of that. It was made for single core processors thus despite having all the fancy new equipment. Sins is not built to even use all that. You will have to wait for the actual sequal before you get multicore support as new engine design takes years to do.

*sigh* Well that is sad.  This seriously is a great game, one of my favorites.  I don't imagine I will purchase beyond Rebellion if that is the case.  Thanks for the explanation.

Rebellion is the last game that will use this engine, so the next one, whenever it maybe, shouldn't have this problem.

I thought back when they announced rebellion they said it would have multicore support.  Maybe I am remembering this incorrectly, but it is a huge letdown if it is not going to have it.

Agreed, been having issues with large multistar games towards the very end, multi core support would have been awesome.

The Devs have allways stated that rebellion would not have multicore support the only place that has been hinted at otherwise is Sins 2. Personally, I am hoping for a fullblown campaign in Sins2.
