This little project started out with the Eradica - the Advent Rebel Titan. Since it bothered me that, no matter what teamcolor I had, it's ornaments were always orange, I endeveared to learn to change the texture, so those ornaments are now in the teamcolor. While it took quite a bit of work, I finally succeded (and had to redo much of the work due to a combination of lost and corruped files).

After finishing with that ship, I got inspired and took the teamcolors to other vessels that lacked them - the Coronata, Vorastra, Kolturask and the Transcencia.

Also included in the download is a fixed mesh (the model underlying the texture, so to say) for the Eradica provided by ZombiesRus5.

A big Thank You goes to the helpfull people over in the 'Modder's "Get-an-Answer" Thread', in particular ZombiesRus5, for helping me figure it out and providing links to the necessary programms and plugins (Gimp 2.6 with DDS plugin), the texture artists of Ironclad games, who made those gorgeous textures in the first place and the people who made Gimp and it's plugins and are nice enough to privide them for free.

"Installing" these texture files is very easy. Just select your mod-directory of choice or create a new one and put the two folders into them. The path looks something like this: "C:\User\<yourname>\documents\my games\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire Rebellion\Mods-Rebellion v1.041\<modname>\".

If you load it together with other mods, the order won't matter, as long as they don't change the very same files. If that is the case, manouver the one you want to have most at the top.

I STRONGLY advice against overwriting the actual game files in the Steam folder!

If you feel like putting these altered textures in your own mod, feel free to do so, as long as you give credit.

That should be enough of the words for now, so here is the link and a few Screenshots:

That is actually pretty darn cool--release it as a mod when you are done.

Feel free to use it, I'd be glad about it

I finished the first version so to say.

There are still areas I'd like to improve, but right now I have to take care of university stuff, so any further work will have to wait at least till sunday.

Those areas that still show orange, or where the blue goes "out of bounds" are only visible if they are lighted by the sun and even then only if you zoom in very close, so I think it's good enough for a first release.

I also put in a small ReadMe file (okay, considering it's a ReadMe for a single file, maybe not so small in comparison), with some instructions for those who don't know where the file is supposed to go and two screenshots, showing the Titan in light blue and green.

Edit: For some reason I can't seem to get the link to work. No matter what I do, it always opens up this thread, instead of downloading the file.... Just copy/pasteing it into the adress bar of your browser seems to work though.

Thanks to MyFist0 I am now able to not only fiddle with the alpha channel alone, but also with the actual texture. While this resulted in me pretty much starting from scratch again and needing a bit more time to work (since changes must now be made to all three color channels and the alpha channel) I think the improved quality is well woth the time and effort.

So far I only finished the dish, but that's enough to show a little comparision.

The old version is on top, the new one on the bottom. Left is the backside (in shadow, facing away from the sun) and the right side shows the front (facing towards the sun):

Very nice work, glad you figured it all out.

The link can be fixed by clicking the link button (looks like a chain), below is what the link points to.

I would recommend putting the link in the OP like this...

Teamcolored Eradica 1.0.rar copy and paste this one if you like.

I did try to put only the actual adress of my webspace in the link, but somehow the other part always got added, without my consent anyway.

Thanks (again ) for the working link and the reminder of editing the first post... I blame it on this being my first release thread...

As for progress, I finished the complicated ornaments yesterday (the dish, shoulder fins and tail fins) and now I'll only have all the straight lines, dots and some small stuff at the "neck" to do.

I'm also thinking of adding some teamcolored areas for the Advent Loyalist titan and the Advent Starbase, since they don't seem to have any at all, at the moment, but first I'll finish up the Eradica.

Edit:

Work is slow but relatively steady. If nothing unexpected happens, I should be finished in two or three days.

I should have known I'm tempting fate with the two days comment...

Anyway I am finally done

Behold the Teamcolored Eradica 1.1.rar

While the screenshots inside the archive are still from the 1.0 version, they aren't zoomed in enough to see the difference anyway, so I didn't bother with new ones. But the texture itself is now all cleaned up and I'm quite pleased with the overall outcome.

If anyone wants to use it in their mod, feel free to do so, but please mention me in the credits

Now I'm going to take a little break and then see if I can come up with something nice and teamcolored for the Advent Loyalist Titan and Starbase, which so far lack any teamcolored areas.

After a lot of real live interference, I've finally had some time to start work on the Transcencia Starbase.

But here I'm a bit unsure as to what areas I should make teamcolored. I already made a few of the lights (down the sides of the dome and on the psionic surge turrets) and the big ornament on the front teamcolored.

What I'm unsure about are the big lights, going from the main disk up the dome to terminate in what looks like massive spotlights (see the screenshot below). Since I'm undecided on the matter, I'd like to get some feedback on wether people would prefer them team-colored or staying white.

What about the big glowing spot on the inside of the disk? You could make that team-colored (can't tell if you already did.)

The big spot on the inside, that is also in the screenshot, is already teamcolored. It used to be blue.

The spot on the outside though (on the backside from this point of view, so not visible in the screenshot) I don't know how to change, since it's a particle effect or somesuch hovering in front of the actual model.

what about the panel opposite the tower for team colour ie at the front of the pic that has the three chevrons on it?

If you mean the slightly arrowish symbol right behind the laser-turret, that I alread gave team-colors. In the original version that's uniform light grey (except for the crevices, which are darker). All the orange parts in that screenshot are areas I already changed to teamcolor (and the blue parts are actually light grey, but the backgroundlight makes them look slightly blue, even though I deactivated the skybox).

Since the old file seems to have gotten corrupted during uploading and I didn't back up the original file on my computer (thinking it was savely tucked away on my webspace...) I had to redo much of the Eradica again, but now I am finished with it... again.

Screenshots and Link in the first post.

I hope your using the light map from the da texture and not doing all that by hand...

Also, I have a fixed mesh for the Eradica that still isn't fixed in game if you want it.

Also, I have a fixed mesh for the Eradica that still isn't fixed in game if you want it.

The only change to any da map I did, was for the Transcencia, since the frontal symbols were too dark to properly see the teamcolored areas most of the time.

The rest was adding the areas to the alpha channel of the cl maps (mostly cutting and pasteing, with a bit of cleaning up) and making corrections in the other three layers when the original color "bled out" of the lighted area. Especially with the Eradica this was quite timeconsuming.

As for the mesh.... I have no idea how to work with those (unless it's just a drop-in replacement). I only fiddled around with the textures, light maps and entities (though not for this particular project) so far.

He's already fixed the mesh. All you'd have to do is include the file in your mod.

I don't mean modify the da itself, I mean using the light map in the da to create your team color approach.

This should be the correct file. Fixes the gaping hole in the front of the mesh.
