RPG elements anyone?

It thought about this yesterday and how Sins is missing RPG elements that could possibly dd a new layer of strategy into this strategy game.

Thus far we get no loot from wrecks and we can customize our ships look or weapons. It would be cooler if we had the concept of "captains" that can be added to ships and improved over time.

Loot aside for a moment (and you do get money from blowing up trade ships, by the way) you're talking about hero units, which already exist in the form of Capital Ships and Titans.

I think they just want to customize their ships individually like in sword of the stars and that Civ based Sins wannabe that is Endless Space.

I still would like to see unique race portraits and capital ship skins for unlocking achievements. I see no reason to do the race technology specific only techs or the no specific type of ship achievements.
