Whether this message goes to players or the devs or god himself, alot of us know this game lags. No i'm not talking about lag that you see in mmo's where characters jump all over the place teleporting. I mean the kind of lag that slows down that game. I play single player with up to 4 bots on a large random map, and it runs pretty good at first. But the lag creeps in and slows things down. Now i know this post has been up several times before but i don't understand why there's so little service on this issue (unless im blind or lazy and cant see the fix post). So before you call me a dotard who doesnt have the ram or whatnot to run the game, here are my specs.

-7200rpm hard disk 700gb

-3rd gen i7 3720qm cpu

-nvidia 650m gt 2 gb

-16gb ram

-windows 7 64bit home

-Alienware m14x r2

So please, if my specs aren't enough then do say so. If not, then lets stop talking about specs and move onto some REAL solutions (no, not unpinning or lowering fleet size) I want to enjoy this game for what its described as, big space kablooey and stuff. And please, dont come here to troll and rant on others because seriously it just takes up posting space. Lets all just concentrate on helping each other on making this game run the epicness it was built with.

Now, so far i know these few things-

-Whether or not 4gb ram is the limit for this game, thats the only amount it will use. (actually i heard it was only 2gb ram or 1.5.) Due to the fact that this game is based on the 32-bit os(or 86x w/e)

-Lowering graphics doesnt seem to help with the lag, even with all the efects off.

Not impressive right? Well thats all i know. So now, i wait to see what my fellow sins lovers will post. If there really is no hope for this game, then i dont know. At least i tried or am trying.

from all the threads the final view is that the MORE ships (including trade AND refinery) the worse the lag, it just is a bit less noticeable with high ghz single core cpu speed and ram speed. the game engine IS 32bit single threaded, so multicore cpu's have the extra cores in idle, and due to the 32bit on x86 OS's it has 2gb of space for the program AND data, while on 64bit IF you MODIFY the exe with the large address aware flag windows will allow the exe to have 4gb for program and data, but without the modified exe windows only allows 2gb for program and data.

my theory for lag is that EACH of the ship, weapon shots, particles, structures and planets entity's needs to be re-calculated (position, heading, status etc) every part second( and the more things the longer it takes to do ALL the calculations then return to the user's instructions and update the screen for each of the items).

this game definitely favours high clockspeed CPUs. The strength of your i7 lies in the fact its a quadcore, this game only addresses 2 cores, only one of which processes data. You can upgrade to a really fast dual core but I wouldn't bother. On an overclocked i5-2500k to 4.7ghz, I can barely crank out 15-40 FPS. So I doubt any technology we have now can make a difference. The graphics are not very intensive, even late game. With Hundreds of ships I get like 15% GPU usage on a GTX 570.

The only hope is the devs finding a way to utilize multiprocessing or even offloading some of the physics calculations to the GPU in order to allow this game to truly breathe.
