Should culture go across stars

I like playing the game with a custom map with roughly 100 or so planets, 6 players and 4-6 systems depending on if i want everyone to have their own system to start with or i'll do 6 stars with 12 players.  So that puts 2 at each then we fight and winner takes on the winner of the other systems.  I noticed during a game that i went culture heavy advent that after securing my own little corner of the galaxy my culture didnt spread to other stars which made it hard with the build i did. Eventually i simply researched other things and won but i think it would be cool if culture could affect other systems just as if they were simply planets in a 1 star map.  It would have to go from star to star then to the planets which would mean it was blockable just like culture is between planets but i still think it would be a cool simple effective way to do culture on larger-multi maps.  Thoughts?

It does. It just takes an excessively long time and your culture must be able to beat whichever star you're attempting to cross over to. I've only had this work successfully on smaller multi star maps. I believe the distance of the stars has a large role in this.

If you're playing as Advent you can build a Starbase in the other stars and put Evangelization Nodes on them, letting your culture spread from the Starbase. That's one way to help get a foothold culture wise in another star system. Plus as a bonus if you put a trade node there you can spread your trade route between stars for an income boost. (And if you're playing the AI, build a ton of strikecraft and laugh as the AI has no idea whatsoever how to deal with it.)

I agree with Tridus on the strikecraft comment.  Yesterday I took down a Ragnarov titan ship with 60 well trained fighters and a starbase that barely had any shielding.

lol I'll have to try the strike craft thing and i like the idea of building a base in the other star.  i usually play against people so that would be a really nice surprise if i could get it built with a couple upgrades.  My friend susally plays TEC rebel and is really agressive.  I'll let you know how it works out enxt time we play.  Thanks

Quoting Tridus,

Not the case.. this is a favoured tactic of mine on multi-star maps. However, the AI will happily spam endless amounts of Torpedo Cruisers or starfish to manhandle your starbases... not to mention they usually come packing with a fleet, too, including a Titan.

With four stars and being actively engaged with your fleet elsewhere, it's easy to lose track of your starbases and see if they're getting hit.
