Wow thank you.  I was wondering whether Rebellion would get a Star Wars treatment anytime soon.

I'm gonna give this a try when I'm back home from work.

It just dawned on me this morning that a death star could use the VL titan's ultimate move. Please tell me this is the case, or if not seriously consider it. I want to destroy a planet named Alderaan.

It is not possible. The Vasari Loyalist titan does not destroy planets (though this seems to have been the plan at one point). You destroy them simply by researching something then scuttling it. There is no way to trigger it by ability.

May I just say this is an awesome mod?  After playing Entrenchment Requiem, this is an enormous improvement.  The graphics are great and I like what I see for the ships so far (granted it's just the Empire at the moment).  In the Entrenchment mod the ships struck me as too small.

As much as I do love what you guys have adopted from other Lucasarts titles (did I hear an X-Wing Alliance pilot?   ), I do wish that in the Entrenchment version hadn't been so thoroughly done.  You guys worked so hard to balance it out that I think something got lost along the way.  Maybe it was just me, maybe it just took getting used to.

All I can say is I'm much more delighted with this Rebellion beta for Requiem.  I hope you can keep it up!

e: after checking up, it seems I might've been on that other Star Wars mod.  The problem is, I downloaded two but only unpacked one and have, since that time, uninstalled all of 'em.  Anyway, it might not've been Requiem I played with the diminished ship size.  And either way I do like what I see so far here.

I see what you're saying. Maybe if a Titan is present on the well while scuttling they can make a beam graphic shoot from the titan to the planet as its being scuttled that would still satisfy me somewhat.

That is not possible. A Death Star cannot be made in Sins.

What are you saying, that we can't import a Death Star model for one of the Titans and treat it like a Titan class ship? Is it an intellectual property rights issue, or is there some sort of technical issue I am failing to grasp here?

It's impossible to destroy planets like the Death Star does is what I'm getting at. It's scale would also dwarf everything in Sins, even those in a strictly Star Wars total conversion, and it would be treated as of it was a normal ship by Sins' engine, rather than as a massive battlestation.

Well that's what Goa had already said in the previous post, but I was replying that I understood the problem. What I was suggesting is that if a titan was in the gravity well when STTC/scuttle is initiated that a particle effect/graphic could be implemented to shoot a beam from the titan to the planet as it is being scuttled to give the appearance that it was destroying a planet.

As for scale, I dunno. I'm not a true SW buff so I don't know how big the death star is but personally I could live with it being the size of a titan. To me it seems besides the planet killer beam it really didn't have much going for it, maybe alot of fighters and defense turrets.

Well if you don't like the death star as a titan then certainly the Executor class star destroyer would fit the bill....it wont kill planets though, and that makes me a sad panda.

what about trying this a diferent way, the deathstar not as a ship or orbital at all, just a graphic, as in , when toggle scuttle, at 5 seconds remaining show graphic Deathstar, at 1 second ramianing show deathstar beam.

now i have no idea what the engine will or wont allow you to do, but having it as a not interactable graphic image that is triggeered by the scuttle planet ability, fake destroying the planet, by shooting a image that appears to be a beam at the planet, while in truth the planet is using its own abilities that have been there the whole time.

I'd be happy with that, then use the executor as the titan.

EDIT: Ha, I said executioner class last night.

It is awesome as the titan.  And humongous.  And beautiful.

They should have sent a poet.

You know, that might actually be possible. I don't know if there is a death star model available, and as a particle it might show enclose or clip with any ships and structures in the gravity well, but it might be technically feasible.

Great mod for Diplomacy I can tell it is going to be even better for Rebellion with what I've seen so far in the beta.

One suggestion I am going to throw out there. (I've been meaning to try this for my own mod). I like bombing planets into the stone age but as rebels, this seems out of place. Maybe you could change the bombing graphic to the colonize one and remove the planet explosions but still keep the damage modifier? This way it "appears" as troops are landing to recapture it. It's a minor thing though that  doesn't stop me from enjoying the mod.

It seems to me there would be explosions in the invasion of an entire planet. There certainly are in the movies. Though the colonize graphic would seem more appropriate for the rebels.
