Ok so first off, I normally don't play as the Vasari so it takes longer for me to get the hang of things than with the TEC.

But can someone explain to me why phase stabilizers will not work on connecting planets in separate star systems? It seems to me that if you're able to join planets together like that....
Cause I'm tired of my fleets having to hop planet-planet-planet-star-star just to defend my capitol.

It's a gameplay choice by the devs.  If you want an explanation, let's just say that they only have so much ability to distort phase space and make new connections.  Interstellar distances are simply too great.

EDIT: Ninjaed by Volt...

Phase stabilizers dont work across interstellar distances. If they would they would be insanely OP as it would allow you to bypass the requirement to jump to the star first. Phase stabilizers are already the probably most powerful technology in the entire game and it is an extremely painful job to deal with a Vasari using them with skill.

For the lore, if Phase stabilizers would work accross interstellar distances the Vasari would have probably outrun their enemy long ago. The huge distances between stars is far to much, even for high end vasari technology.

There is still a way to help you. Place a Phase stabilizer at your homestar and at your homeworld/often attacked planet. So you only have to jump to the star and then after only one more jump you are there for the rescue.^^

To over powered. The star is intended to be a major choke point on multistar maps, with the possible additions of wormholes. Phase stabalizers are already one of the best structures in the game, I don't think they need anything else.

By the same token, just take your entire home star system, starbase the star and the enemy will have a hard time attacking your homeworld again.

Quoting GoaFan77,

Or, alternatively, instead of fortifying the star, fortify all the planets surrounding the star. This will force players to go through a wall to get to the goodies behind it.

Or, do both.

That might be a bit expensive, unless you're the TEC loyalists.
