Now Windows 8 is at the release stage RTM please fix the DRM activation tool so it works in windows 8. Its just lame that the DRM crap is blocking the game for starting.

hi there i have to say i agree i got the game loade in my steam and i get exactly the same problem i cant play any chance u guys can fix this so i/we can play again pls

As a workaround, download this file, extract the contents to the folder the game is installed in and overwrite any existing files. You should then be able to complete the registration process.

Error: Could not run SDactivate.exe. Try running as Admin.

The fix isn't working for me. I have user account control turned off, and I'm using an administrator account. I also tried running the exe with admin privileges.

Emailed Stardock support earlier today and got the canned response of "we don't support Windows 8." Neither do I Stardock. Neither do I.

I had this issue as well, make sure that each file has been Unblocked (Right click -> Properties -> Unblock) and then run Steam as an Administrator as well - this solved it for me.

Before I elevated Steam I got the same SDactivate error

Any word on the update to Sins? I just upgraded to Windows 8 yesterday and now I can't activate Sins Trinity via Steam or Game Stop apps. I tried extracting the zip file (posted above) into the Sins installation folder, and still no go. After I input my email address/password and the key, after I click "register", nothing happens.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

Windows 8 is a steaming pile of shit regarding gaming.  Removal of other features also didn't help it.  They gave away too much to in favor of tablets.  There is no wonder many gaming devs. are staying away from it.

I agree with Xathos. If you don't need to upgrade i would stick with windows 7. An old saying. If it aint broke. Dont fix it.

While I appreciate the replies, I honestly thought I would hate Windows 8 as well, but I don't. I actually like it more than Windows 7. Now, back to my original question...any word on if/when Stardock will fix this activation bug?

do the fix above, delete the SDactivate.exe, rename activate.exe to SDactivate.exe worked for me

Ok I've sorted it out, just had to extract the files somewhere else then drag and drop them in to the sins folder and it has worked, thank you.
