A question mainly to the developers.

Or anyone who really knows this...but back in Diplomacy, it had this update that seemed to greatly reduce lag in late games. The game still lagged no doubt, but it seemed a lot better than before.

With Rebellion, the horrendous lag is back...what did they do with Diplomacy that can't be done here? o.0

Rebellion has added more to the game which will create more lag. Major Stress and others are working on a mod that maybe replicated (just like with Diplomacy) by the devs to reduce the lag again.

I hope the devs fix it officially though...haven't really messed with mods much...

Well the devs used the mod last time maybe they will this time.

Alright, coolz. :p

Its no big deal for me right now anyways, I'll just keep it to 4 to 6 players. xD

One of the biggest contributing factors to lag is the size of gravity wells...Rebellion made the gravity wells bigger (because of titans), significantly contributing to lag...the added content mostly just uses more RAM...

The gravwells have changed but didn't think it was that big of an issue. Aside from throwing off the Distant Stars planets and stars.

And here I thought it was the smaller things like debris and all the crap those ships fire at each other. xD

EDIT: Actually I do remember hearing the strike craft are to blame too...

You should go here and download and install the The Sins Optimization Project Rebellion (TSOPR) mod.  It will work for straight-forward Rebellion and may work on some smaller mods that don't rework textures, meshes and particles of things already in the game.

This is hands down, the best way to reduce lag in the standard game.

If you really like one of the available large mods and that's all you run you will have conflicts until those mods adopt the improvements from TSOPR but otherwise will have no problems.

But my mod does edit the main textures...xD

(remember my ship skins thread? :p )
