This is one that I highly recommend. The working beta is an absolute blast with it's terrain deformation and the effects that has on your vehicle's ability to maneuver (or move!) There is tire deformation, vehicle chassis flexation as well as the vehicle simulation itself. Pretty neat package overall and it's only going to get better as they clearly list out many of the game-play features they will be adding. There is also an older technology demo which features some early concepts for these as well.
Produced by Oovee™ Game Studios, Spintires is an Intel(R) award winning off-road driving experience designed to challenge the player's skill and endurance.
Take responsibility of operating large off-road trucks (and smaller personal 4x4s) and venture across the all-terrain landscapes with only a map and compass to guide you.
Featuring a unique terrain deformation system and interactive environment, Spintires is never the same - regardless of how many times you play it.

T-Shirts have been added to some of the backer tiers!
Pay-Pal is now available for those wanting to donate to the Spin Tires project. These values will be pledged towards the kickstarter goal for funding.
Just a quick update to say that we have now launched our temporary Spintires website. A PayPal option is now available for those wishing to pledge via that method.
The PayPal pledges will be tallied against our Kickstarter goal.

How the team plans to setup sound capture for the vehicles in game:
It seems that sound, to many people is an afterthought and is generally used just to fill up space. However, if properly planned and thought over, sound can play an important role in a game. Sound along with visuals is a strong sensory tool. As humans, we use sound everyday at both conscious and subconscious levels to understand the environment around us and it cannot be substituted by any other sensory medium.
This is why we have taken sound seriously and with your funding, we can spend a lot more time on the audio aspect of Spintires, than what would normally be feasible.
For those who have not seen, we did work together with Pole Position Productions to record the sounds of the mammoth Kraz 255 truck in Sweden early last year.
There were around 10 microphones fitted to the Kraz truck picking up every detail, every cough, and every splutter this beautiful machine delivers. We hope to do more field trips with Pole Position Productions later to collect sounds from other trucks etc.
Take a look at the video that was produced during the recording trip, it is a bit long and probably not as exciting as you would hope but it shows exactly the details we go to in order to get the sounds we need.

We are very keen on implementing a ‘3D sound cone’, which will reflect, based on the position of the camera. For example, if the camera is to the side of the vehicle, you will mostly hear deep, bassy, and chirpy exhaust beats. However if the camera is to the rear of the truck, you will hear mostly a fainter engine sound and more rattles, clunks, bangs and tires rolling over various terrain surfaces. Of course, with our default camera position you will get the best of both worlds.
It is just another step towards immersing the player into the environment.

As I stated before. I highly recommend this kickstarter as what they have been able to do so far has been truly amazing.
