I can't get that song out of my head with its catchy tune, and its seductive message.
I close my eyes, only for a moment, and the moment's gone
All my dreams, pass before my eyes, a curiosity
Dust in the wind, all they are is dust in the wind.
Same old song, just a drop of water in an endless sea
All we do, crumbles to the ground, though we refuse to see
Dust in the wind, all we are is dust in the wind
Don't hang on, nothing lasts forever but the earth and sky
It slips away, and all your money won't another minute buy.
Doesn't that seem so depressingly true? Well, I'm easily led astray, so I had to force myself to remember that as great as that song sounds, and as mellow and sad as it makes me, it couldn't be any further from the truth (except for the statement on the impermanence of money). So to combat "Dust in the Wind," a hymn came into my mind. It's not nearly as seductive, but who wants to be seduced by lies anyway?
The following hymn sounds powerful in congregations.
The works of God continue, And worlds and lives abound;
Improvement and progression Have one eternal round.
There is no end to matter; There is no end to space;
There is no end to spirit; There is no end to race.
There is no end to virtue; There is no end to might;
There is no end to wisdom; There is no end to light.
There is no end to union; There is no end to youth;
There is no end to priesthood; There is no end to truth.
There is no end to glory; There is no end to love;
There is no end to being; There is no death above.
There is no end to glory; There is no end to love;
There is no end to being; There is no death above.
