School Daze

Two Classes

I'm still working on my undergraduate work. I've sent away for my Associate Degree from the Defense Language Institute (and I should've months ago), and I expect it in the mail by the end of next month.

I'm currently taking History II, am in the third week, but still stuck in the middle of the second weeks' work. Such is my online education.

On top of that, I've signed up for another class to start two Mondays from now (at the beginning of my fifth week of History). I'd better be caught up by then, because a double load will weigh me down hard. I'm looking forward to it, Introduction to Philosophy (which is how it ties into the Category here). But I'm not really sure what to expect.

I've been reading a lot about the Christian faith, a lot of the Bible, lately. I've also been reading this neat Zen book (Link) that one of my Specialists (rank, not profession) lent me, and I bought a copy less than a week later.

I've done some reading in the past on Taoism, but I'm unsure how much Eastern philosophy we'll get into. I'm actually looking forward to exploring some European stuff, even though I've heard it's not as interesting; at least it will be new to me!

Just need to get my butt into gear. I'm procrastinating on the History assignments as I type this!

Pseudo is the man, man.
Congratulations on your AA, and godspeed towards your Bachelor's.
I was very happy that the Army paid for my Bachelor's, and the government will continue to be my enabler... I mean, fund my schooling.
Honestly, you are not competitive unless you have at least a BA on your resume. Post-Army employers will not even give an Arabic linguist the time of day without an advanced degree. Even these mythical contractors about whom we're told so much.

I'm not certain about this. GSS, right out of DLI? Even GJH, did she have one? Wasn't GJA working on his, as well as GAE, or had they already gotten them and were speaking of past experiences?

Still, it would be better to get the BA. Perhaps you're speaking from the directly-employed-by-the-government point-of-view. I'm going to Education next week to see which degrees are open to me, and starting work towards one immediately. (And hopefully getting into something meatier than American History II.)
