A dangerous customization?

During the past couple of weeks I have run across some PC's that have a custom dialog and look to the "Computer Locked" dialog box of Windows XP Pro. (you know, ctrl-alt-del.. lock computer..

Anyone have any ideas how? I know it will be registry tweaks..

any pictures of what you are talking about?

I didn't even know it was possible to "lock" the computer under windows XP; I thought that got replaced by the switch user function...

yeah, you can...but i don't remember how. Don't do that at home.

here at work, the ctrl+alt+del is activated for logon/lock/ect...so here if I use the windows key + L it locks my computer while at home it switches users.

syslock from in command line...you know, makes the "you gotta have a particular floppy disk to go any further" type lock.

No, I cant get a screen shot of it.. because the computer is locked.
I'm sure I will have to edit a dll file using reshack or resedit. Just not sure which one.

You can view this window by disabling the welcome screen. Control panel > User Accounts > Change the way users log on and off.
If you want to customize this check out WinT's mod: http://wint.virtualplastic.net/showtweak.php?tweak_id=82

Disclaimer: remember to backup any dll’s you are modifying.

As a side note: when you disable the welcome screen, the shortcut to the Task Manager is CTRL+SHIFT+ESC. It's a little quicker than CTRL+ALT+DEL > Task Manager

There are many keyboard shortcuts out there for the curious mind.
