How about an autosave?

Anyway to implement this? Sure would be nice for those almost inevitable crashes.

It has been in there since beta 1.

Question about autosave when you resume a game after a crash where do you pick up from ? How many turns do you lose ?

Beginning of that year.

Ok, sorry, didn't realize that. Thanks.

The default setting (in beta 2, may have changed recently) is to autosave every 14 turns, but you used to be able to change that by editing the perf.ini in the data directory.

I haven't checked if that still works in the current version.

I have noticed that there are two autosave files. Would someone at SD please tell us how to take advantage of this?

Cari mentioned the extra autosave a while back. When the game autosaves it makes a copy of the previous autosave first.

In order to access it you have to swap the one set of files for the other.

OK. Or you could copy the alternate into the test folder and test.sav, I presume.

Thanks.

Yep, the only two file/folder combinations that the game currently looks for are 'test' and 'AutoSave', so all you have to do for it to recognize it is to rename the backed up file and folder.

The default number of turns that the game autosaves should be 12...so every January, it saves the game. You can change how many turns it autosaves in the Prefs.ini file. We will be adding a place on the save/load dialog when it's in, or on the options menu, for you to edit it there. I think that I reduced mine to save every 6 turns, so that it still saves in January.
