Why I think GalCiv is gonna rule the strategy genre

Like many of you i've been playing strategy games for years. Started with Empire Deluxe and have gone through pretty much every strategy game that's been produced. And after playing on a medium sized galaxy tonight i Figured out why GalCiv is gonna rule them all...It doesn't suffer from critical mass problems.
Most strat games I play are very predictable. By the 30th turn you can predict who is going to win if you find the stats. Even in Civ 3, if you retire and see the stats, the game is over before it starts.
Not so in GalCiv; the computer AI in GalCiv can be described in one word: Cunning. Great empires can still fall under their own weight. The right technology at the right time can turn the tide.
I think its because it truly has got many different victory strats. Just when it looks like the Drengin are going to dominate along comes the Arceans who just got a tech to upgrade their space stations with something that gives their worlds a real advantage. Or maybe even if I'm winning I can still lose by the cunningness of computer players who bide their time and build with a real strategy in mind.
Am I the only one whose noticed this? That you can't predict who is going to win early on? That's what I love about this game. You can play the whole game and still be kept on your toes. No painful mopping up. yay Stardock and GalCiv!
