Altarian Prophecy beta Available to Drengin.net users

You have to have updated and restarted Stardock Central since yesterday to see the beta.  Check Show Pre-Release Applications and select Check for Application Updates if you aren't seeing it.

Altarian Prophecy will show up as a separate module under Games, and installs into its own directory, but you must have Gal Civ installed (preferably 1.13 but 1.12 might work too).  It works much like the mods directory.

Please note that the save games are not cross-compatible between the expansion pack and 1.13 or earlier versions of Gal Civ.  They no longer create folders; everything is saved in one file.  Altarian Prophecy has its own Data\SaveGames folder.

It's actually bigger than the final version will be, because we still have to make the new opening screen.

love the new minor race graphics. i thought id read that there were going to be 7 major races in altarian prophecy i can only see 5. is the completed version going to have all 7? love the random setting for universe creation adds a bit of tension to game :) can you list the major new updates to the actual game as cant seem to see that many so far. (other than map editor etc) thanks great looking add-on

Not true. It crashes when there are no minors left. If there are still minors, DO click on the button. You'll know at last what Carinoids and Alexians look like. Now that may be the art for the new races, but they are good looking.

One weird thing: Why were all the ai's set to pure good fools by default? Fools OK, but Pure Good?

I LOVE the random options for map size and habitable planets.

What do the options mean in GoodVsEvil and I-can't-remember-what-it-was-but-it-was-by-default? Both disable alliance victory. Do you plan to provide some hint on what those options mean like a right click help, text description or something?

I can't say I like the loader. It's got all the options, but it looks like someone threw shuffled cards on my desktop, and clicking somewhere on the cards will do something. I'd rather have a more conventional menu than these small cards.

Strange... I fire Stardock, click to see "pre-release" applications, run check for updates, the whole shebang... and yet I cannot see the Altarian beta.

Has it been removed or am I having an issue? (:(

It's a new line under the Galciv 1.13 one in the games tab.

Well... I appreciate the help, but it is just not there. Very strange. It shows that I have 1.13 with the expanded update, bonus pack, multimedia and the pdf manual. But Altarian Prophecy beta is nowhere to be seen. >:(

Checking just in case - are you a Drengin.net subscriber?

And did you update your SDC?

Same here. I get a "memory could not be read" error when clicking the install icon.

That's a very good question. I guess I had assumed I was since I had access to Stardock central and its updates, but since I am not seeing the beta I guess it may be that I am just a registered game user and not a full Dregin member!

Thank you all for your help anyway :d

A Drengin.net subscription is something you have to pay extra for. It gets you all of stardocks games and betas. You don't need it for Stardock Central.

On the software page check if you have checked the checkbox 'show pre-release' (that's a lot of checks!)

And then in the menu tools>check for updates

No problems with seeing it in SDC here. :)
Do I need to make a back up of my current galciv directory, or these files will be saved to another location?

When I try starting the map editor i get a 'd3d9.dll not found' error. Any idea what it could be? *scratches head*

I've also found that trying to load a saved game in Alterian Prophecy causes a CTD. :(

Haven't had much time to play with AP lately cuz I had a concert to go to (please forgive me LOL ).
