I would like to know if it is possible to make part of a window transparent.

I want the right "pane" of a windows explorer window to be transparent so just the files/folders are there and you can see through the background to the desktop. I want the rest of the window (menu, title bar, left side menu, border, etc.) to remain opaque.

I found lots of tools and settings for making the entire window transparent, but I don't want that.

I also tried customizing the background with a transparent gif, but that just turned it black.
