A Guide to the Sins of a Solar Empire Forums

I've seen some posts (and received emails) asking how to navigate and post to our forums here.  I'm going to periodically update this posts with short guides, and some tips and tricks that may be useful to those of you who are new to the Stardock forums. 

1.  How to Create a Forum Post

Lets just say you start at the forum index:
https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/index.aspx

You can see three major sections, with sub-categories under them.  Lets say you want to just post to the General forum for Sins.  Click on "General" from the list under Sins of a solar Empire.

Now that you're actually in one of the forums, you should see a "Create Post" button on the right, near the top of the forums table.

The trick with our forums is to make sure you're *in* a forum before you try to post. 

Please note: the above directions will be updated with screenshots when I get into the office tomorrow morning.  This is just to get you going as quickly as possible tonight.

We have summary views to make it easier for users to browse new content at a quick glance.  Our forums are a little different than the standard fare, but I think you'll like them once you get used to them.

Expect more to come with time.  If you have any specific questions about the forums, please post them to this thread.  Either Kryo, Yarlen, Draginol or myself will be able to answer just about any technical questions you may have about these forums.

Yeah... however watched threads do show in the Watchlist link at the top, so you have a handy list to access them here too.

I found a bug with the watched threads, though. When it emails me that a thread I've been watching has been updated, the link in the email is bad. It wants to send me to www.sinsofasolarempire.com/?postid. By clicking on the link, I always wind up at the homepage for Sins.

1) I just posted in the Sins of a Solar Empire / General forum I'm pretty sure. I can see my post in my Watch List. It says it's in the 'Sins of a Solar Empire' forum. But when I click that link, I do not see it.

2) When I look at the General forum, I see a 'Pinned Posts' section, and a 'Recent Active Posts' sections. But how do I see a post that is not 'Pinned' and not 'Recent Active'?

Tying in to what Snacko said, it seems to me that threads take thirty to sixty minutes to update properly.

Even ten minutes after I make a post, the thread I posted to will be dark and down on the list, as though I hadn't posted to it at all. I can still see my post if I open the thread, though.

This makes it difficult to follow all the threads going on here during the hubbub of SoaSE's release.

Whenever I try tot upload an image to my avatar, it sends me to a blank page with the words: Bad Request at the top.
