I Think These May Be the Two Meanings of Life...

the long awaited answer(s)...

Well...not everyone may agree but I've figured out at least 2 possible universal meanings to life that are non religious...

1. Survival-Just simply staying alive...nuff said.
2. Reproduction-One of the most primal forces and main goals in life in which people do several things for...both good and bad...

I might be wrong but at least it may get people thinkin'.

Ahh yes, I see your writer's block is slowing you up a bit. I think your right on both points, but I also think there are more that aren't necessarily religious. Unfortunately, I can't think of any at the moment. Perhaps to create. Not procreate, but to invent and discover. For those of us who can't invent, we can always discover.

I do think you're on to something, but keep thinking my man!

Heinlein's Starship Troopers (the book not that craptacular movie) actually uses these two things as the defining forces that shape *every* decision you make in your life. If you have never read it I highly recommend it. Trust me, the movie has nothing in common with it except the name.

OTTAWA, ON, Apr. 19 (UPI) -- Statistics Canada said Monday that Canada's "crude birth rate," declined by slightly more than a quarter from 1992 to 2002.

The crude birth rate measures the number of live births per thousand Canadians.

In 2002, Canadian women gave birth to 328,802 babies, down 1.5 percent from 2001 -- the eleventh drop in 12 years, the Canadian Broadcast Corp. reported.

Statistics Canada also said it estimated the average number of children that Canadian women between the ages of 15 and 49 would have in their lifetime would be 1.50, placing it in the middle of industrialized nations.

I don't think those are the meaning of life, more goals of life. I think the meaning would be an attempt to prosper. I'm not sure I spelled it right, but I think you got the messege.

How about if you just sit and wait until you think of something to say instead of just blogging about the first thing that comes to your mind? It usually works for me because that's the kind of person I am, maybe it will work for you too but I think you should come up with something and then think about what you're saying ahead of time. I don't know zoo, just a suggestion for a fellow blogger.

it has got people thinking, which was what you wished for, zoologist ... it seems people are interested in hearing further expansion on your theories.

Ah, of course. 42 is the undisputed meaning of life. 6x7=42. If you don't get this little joke, ask the mice.

In reality, Zoo, I believe that you are not stating meanings of Life, just basic primal forces all people are driven to accomplish.
Instinct requires we copulate and that we perpetuate our lives. Meaning of life is a thing that a person sets to accomplish, sort of like a super-uber-longterm goal. A person creates their own meaning of life. That's my opinion, anyway.

I don't know who told me this but I remember someone telling me that the meaning of life was to love and to learn...needless to say it stuck with me.

The question isn't what is the meaning of life. Its does life have a meaning?

Read that in a philosophy book once, I think. Anyway, I agree with Death By Beebles (nice name!). I think these are more like things that people strive to accomplish. More like instincts. Don't people who don't reproduce still have a meaningful life? just something to think about.
