February (is not) SOASE BETA month!!!!!

edited for the last time 2/26/07

So it hasn't been announced what day the beta will be out yet, but we all know it will be this month, I am gonna guess it will be out on a Friday, and probably the 16th of February!

What does everyone else think?

Lets get back on topic. Anyone think the beta will be out before March 1st?

Well, hopefully. If not, the whining will become unbearable

Knowing them they'll probably release it at 11:59pm on 28th of February. I'm happy to wait though, since I'm not getting the beta anyway   but it does make sense that the beta should be ready, yes I know betas generally aren't supposed to be perfect but they must be in some semblance playable.

At the end of the day it is up to Ironclad and to be honest it doesn't matter when you get it, as long as you get it. They did say that the Feb release date was subject to change.

** slips Blair a crisp $50 ** can I have the beta before my birthday on the 28th? everyone else can play it sometime later in March.

50$ is up to 20 hours of work for some people

w00t? you sure about that? since that aint much.

Well when i worked for a factory i got about 120 danish kroner (21$) per hour.
So i need to work about 6hours to pay for the game, since we pay almost 50% in taxes.

On topic

well if it aint one the 1st of march, then erm... later

Schematicsninja has "superior math skills" don't ask, don't tell, lol...

I have to work 2 hours to afford the game, the USA has on average 33% taxes, or 1/3 of every dollar you earn goes to the government is some way...

I also had to work 2 hours to slip Blair that bribe...

have to work 2 hours

Same here ($50= £25). Workin' like a dog.

I remember working hard for my money, but now I am slowly getting close to that special inner circle of management where you get paid a lot, do nothing, and not know what any of your employee's do... It should be exciting...

The best days at work are these:

I just moved into the lowest end of management - got a pay raise, do less work, and have the ability to tell other people to do something (And watch it actually happen!) - it's amazing

That said - Where's my burrito (beta)!

First off... If 50 dollars is a lot of money to you, you need to not be buying games, and save some money so that you can be in the situation where spending 50, 100, 1000, dollars is not a big deal. Or better yet buy a good book called "Rich Dad Poor Dad", it prolly cost around 10 bucks (its an older book) and learn about the true value of money, and learning to save so you can have money for the things you want.

Well, fortunately, I am in a possition, that 50 bucks for a game isn´t an issue for me.
But this is not the point.
The point is: We are the customers.

By preordering we have struck a deal with the company.
They benifit from knowing that they will sell at least so and so many compies on release (and can estimate how many more, by comparing preorder numbers with similar titles)and get some money before the actual release.
We benefit from being in the beta and in addition show our support for the game.

As a company, you treat your customer well or you go bancrupt, period. Now Stardock has gone to great lengths, to treat its customers well, in my experience, and I don´t expect anything less now.

I don´t have a problem, if release of the beta is pushed back to, say, mid march (ok, I´ll go "Arrrrgh", but so what?)
What I do have a problem with is, not to know.

If they wanted to go with the "it will be released when it is released" approach, they shouldn´t have stated any date in the first place. Once this first date was out, there was no going back, IMO.

Next issue... The said the BETA would be out by the end of the winter season, that is March 21st here in the states. One of the guys at Ironclad had mentioned it as possibly the end of January early February. By mid February Ironclad told us it would not be out before February 20th. So calm down, go play some GalCiv2, and just take it easy, it will be out when its ready. Constant bickering about when it will be out and why its not out, will only tick off the people making it, I know it would tick me off it I was them.

Yes, Feb 20th was mentioned. But come on, did anyone read this as August 2008, for example? (Yes, I am exagerating, so sue me)
Of course everyone was reading this as "The beta will be out shortly after February 20th."

Some points that will help you endure the wait:

1. You have paid nothing, and they owe you nothing. I heard someone say that you have to have $50 already in the bank. Annoyed? Then don't play the game.

2. Being in the beta is a privilege, not a right. You want to be in the beta, you wait for it. Don't like waiting? See step 1.

3. Stardock/Ironclad going back on their statements? Too bad, they make the decisions and the game.

4. Not happy? There's other customers waiting, just like there're other businessmen waiting for your money.

We're planning to post an update tomorrow (Monday) about the upcoming beta. Don't look for it at midnight either. We're on east-coast time here, so it'll likely be posted Monday afternoon.

Its going to say.."Sorry guys, but we lost all of the companies money on a bet against EA games. There is no more beta, or SOASE!

P.S. That means the money you spent on pre orders was lost too."

I hope every time you download the beta , when it is out, it downloads corrupt for you!
Technically, my money is already spent on the pre-order. (Tokens) Although a small bonus is I think I paid a few £/$ less than you would through normal means. Regardless, even if you haven't been charged, the money has been committed. It should be taken seriously.

Anyway, the news I think could be "beta is delayed until so and so" or it could be..."beta is released!"

I'll have blown out your computer with the sheer number of posts if this ever occurs.
