Here is my contribution, I do them by the 5-7-5 rule, thats what I have learned.

You should have precised what's "Haiku" in your first post, not everyone knows what it is (like poor me).

A haiku is a 3 line poem that generally doesn't rhymne (sp?), but has 5 sylables in the first line, 7 in the second, and 5 in the third line. Origin: Japanese

A (frequently implicit) seasonal reference is also usual, as "Flowers bloom, roots grow / Life reaches for the heavens / A new dawn for Man".
