I'm about to turn 29 - for the 4th time :)
MOO3? MOO3 desperately tried to become the mother of all 4x strategy games by adding unfthomable depths of complexity to it, all in a most unfriendly, unintuitive, click-intensive user interface. Then, seemingly as an afterthought, they must have realized that no sane human being could possibly enjoy it, so they added planetary governors to handle *everything* leaving you feeling less like an aeon-spanning omniscient deity and more like a general. Then, maybe they realized that no sane human would enjoy that, either, but at least this way they would not *create* any new insane people. Granted, that is a small improvement :D
The bottom line is that both MOO1 and MOO2 (in particular) were complete successes, and have gone down in the annals of strategy gaming as true classics, alongside such illustrious titles as Civilization. MOO3 doesn't even belong in their company.
GalCiv on the other hand! Wheeeee! It will be mentioned in the same breath as MOO2 - the MOO3 that should have been! GalCiv is destined to become a classic as it is. The only thing missing is a multiplayer option. I know lots of people who have no qualms about spending 6 times 8 hours playing turn based strategy on the net, like in Civ2 or Civ3:PtW - so why not GalCiv? It shouldn't be a big problem to implement, after all. I hope it is added at some point once the devs have the time for it. Oh, and if you do that, devs, *please* don't use GameSpy. It is Evil! ;)
Oh dear.... I seem to be ranting. I'll just go now :D

Yo, Surther. You started the thread with: "So what is the average age of a Gal Civ player."

Now that you have the data, we're now waiting for the average age? :d :D

Hey Elrikk,

I bought a '97 Les Paul Studio but its not the same as my old Custom. A Les Paul along with a Mesa Boogie amp produces the sweetest sustain.

For me it isn't so much a second childhood but a return to something that gives me true happiness and freedom.

I try to visualize when I'm 60 and playing at the local Moose Lodge and some old timer requests "Stairway to Heaven" or "Tubesnake Boogie". LOL

44. First serious gaming was Zork on an Apple II+ and no sleep! For me MOO always lacked something after playing OS/2 Galciv.

Well I feel pretty good at 32 years old. I have a beautiful wife and a 2 year old little girl. Can it get any better than that? Well maybe if I had a job I liked and some money. :p

I have been gaming forever it seems. It all really started for me though when I bought the intellivision. Wow I had like 75 games for it. I loved it. You know the graphics comparted to now sucked but gaming then was as fun as it is now and hopefully will still be that much fun in another 32 years.

Dont have the game yet, but looking forward to playing it... at my fabulous age of 20.

Was a bit suprised that a majority of you are some 10 years older than me...
Fully ruins my theory that only people under 23 use smileys :)

39, been playing games since Panzer Blitz, Panzer Leader, Squad Leader, D&D. Been playing computer games since Pong. Had a pong maching, Atari, Radio Shack Model 1, Level 1 (with a massive 4K memory and a tape cassette drive), Vic 20, C64, Commodore 128, Amiga 1000 and switched to PC's at the 386 33 Mhz mark. Not as old as some, but definetly older than others. I can safely say I was playing games before the term "old school" was even invented. :)

The flip side is, I'll probably die before most of you, but hey, that's life.... LOL
