I don`t know what you`re bug is but I`m sure it isn`t related to winning through cultural victory. I`ve done so twice. It must be something else.

I haven't had too many crashes but I've had the buttons and screen go to a different look. The buttons go to a blue white opaque look and hurts the eyes. If I save the game, quit and reload it still is there but if I load a previous save while the buttons are all screwed it fixes itself. I have to load a previous save and continue from there. It has happened about 3 times thus far.

The debug.err shows the following from just a simple load and quit. It seems to fail and finding a palette.

is anyone experiencing black flashing screen problem? it's very disturbing and portions of the screen flash on and off. is there any way to prevent refresh rate switch during the bink movie playback that is more graceful? i suspect movies are related as sometimes it's portions of the screen with movies (ie on the splash screen) blacks out. unfortunately on the main screen once into the game it flashes portions or all black for 1/2 second every few seconds, driving me blind.

had second newest detonators, tried newest ones.

After driver install, I noticed all the refresh rates for DirectX games (a bug of Windows that was finally fixed in XP SP1) are reset back to 60hz (60fps maximum) after a new driver install. game seems to have been free of the mad flashing when i tried it briefly.

In the interest of getting framerate maxed out (on 3D games etc.) to their ability, and not limited to 'just' 60, I use RivaTuner's fixed-refresh rate feature where it sets each resolution to their max rate. I set my desktop rate at this as well so as to avoid the 'clicking' that happens when refresh rate is switched, and so I can alt-tab easily. (currently at 120hz)

This has caused me no problems in any other 2D or 3D game. This *seems* to be behind this grief in GalCiv

geforce4 ti4200, nvidia 41.09 drivers, xp pro sp1, 21" dell monitor with 120hz refresh rate set properly in drivers, running at 1024x768x16/32 same refresh rate same problems.

In my game I set espionage on the Torian high and quickly got my level of intel on them to medium. When I went to look at the stat screen the game crashed. Since then, every time I try to look at their stats the game simply dumps out back to the windows screen. It doesnt do this for any other race, only the Torians.

This game is highly addicting awesome job guys one problem im getting though is if I hit the statistics screen i get kicked to windows everytime. Just started doing this yesterday i believe after i downloaded the new exe. file other than that no problems.

I haven't read all these so I don't know if someone has mentioned it yet or if it is really a bug. I've gotten the Undead Warriors event 3 times in the same game. Though it may be possible that this only happened after I quit and reloaded a game. Thought I would mention it

I've had this same problem with the CTD, and have mailed in my save game. It's my only problem I've had, and I can work around it by selecting the race before looking at their stats, although that only works *sometimes*.

Way too many messages to read here, so I hope this one isn't already mentioned too many times:

Minor Nations repeated building of Economic or other cetners again and again... seems like a bug.

The changing layout with buttons and stuff was due to my alignment changing to good. Disregard my post (#154) but what are all the errors doing in the debug.err?

Oy. I just played another game and it crashed again in the endgame. I have a 866 Mhz, 512 RAM, 32mb vid card, Windows Me....is the problem on my end?

A couple of bugs:

a) Is the graph for the treasury value correct? My treasury is typically around 0, while the graph is bouncing about, especially in the beginning of the game.
For example, my treasury was -131, while the graph showed 36731.

b) UP votes who gets the Theme Park. My influence there was higest by far. Although everybody voted for himself (incl. me), the Yor of all people got it. Should have been me - right?

And I have a question: if a starbase increases economic abilities by 10% - this only applies to the quadrant it's currently in, correct?

As I wrote in my (somewhat longer) post inthe Suggestions thread, I really like this game. Great work!

Ciao,
Klaus

Senate voted me out:

Me the Federalist had been steadily gaining Senate seats up to about 46+ or so (don't remember exactly). But it was enough to keep control. Re-election occurred and @#$@$@ I lost control of the Senate (I later lowered taxes - gee what a stealth move - and got the Senate back some moves later).

The bug that I would like to report is that during my loss of the Senate I had about 38% of the vote, but the voting against me (from a combined populace) was greater than my computer-calculated reduced 36% - bear with me here. The voting "result" screen - the one that shows the updated voting results had me at 36% but the Populists vote, as well as all others, totally represented only about 20% of the total vote. In other words the opposition voting was not correctly represented as a percentage (actually showed various values of 3% to 6% against me - an certainly did not add up to 100% of the total vote - for or against).

I was successful in playing through this issue, but I believe it to be a bug and have thus reported it as such.

When I get status reports, it tells me I have fallen behind technologically even though my technology is by FAR the highest of all the races in this game.

The U.P. vote for creating a Trade Federation that will prevent attacks on freighters for 5 years has text indication 10% of all trade revenue will go to fund the federation. If this becomes enforced law then it is shown as costing 1% of all trade revenue, not 10%.

I am having a combat problem. Whenever attacked by the AI, the game goes into extremely slow motion. Taking up to five minutes to resolve the first shot. Strangely, I can hit the windows menu button on my keyboard and the action resolves itself instantly. But I have to step out to desktop and click back in to the game to get around it. Any suggestions?

I have DL & installed the GC patch w/Bonus Pack. I started up a new game and on the planet screen, there are double entries in the "Social Projects" column.
i.e. Entertainment Network
Entertainment Network
Soil Enhancement
Soil Enhancement

If this is a bug, is there a work-around. If not a bug, any suggestions??

Thanks

Got a nice infinite loop in the diplomacy screen.
Someone spontaneously offered me money for no reason.
Took it. That was it. No further response from the program.
Definitely in loop, as it was difficult to get task manager up.

Playing a game with 6 idiot players.... :)

Got a quick exit (trap) in the game setup.
Clicked on the details for "Technologists".
The description came up.
When I clicked on the "Done" button for the description,
(or may have missed a bit) the game exited.
This was after finishing another game. So the running executable
had been running for a while.
No Dr.Watson log.

BUG?

I have managed to crash the game to the desk top twice by doing the following.

Offer to trade one technology to AI in exchange for four or five technologies. The AI refuses. Click the LEAVE options. CRASH.

OK i had alot of frequent game crashes but i managed to recover from autosave... BUT, this time i wasnt able to. When i loaded the autosave it gave the management screens but they were blank, then when i go to hit menu it boots me out to windows. I dont know what exactly the problem is but i do however have the autosave director saved and autosave.sav backed up in a zip file. So if any coders or programmers want to take a look at it ill be in the #galciv, name is RanK or email me at [email protected]

I downloaded the game last night and have patched it to 1.01. I've got a P3 1Ghz with 256M and a GeForce3 Ti500. I've only been able to play 10 or so turns in the last four hours because the game either hard locks at the end of the turn or takes between 45 seconds and 15 minutes to complete the turn. I assume this is abnormal otherwise no one would be able to play. I've already turned SFX and music off to no avail.

Anyone have any suggestions?
