Suggestions should be things that don't fundamentally change the scope of the game or require immense levels of development time.

Enforce a maximum number of starbases that an empire can support, tied to either the number of planets controlled or to population.

When I'm in the planet detail screen I would like to be able to see where the planet I'm looking at is on the galaxy map. Often I was trying to decide what to build based on where the planet was located and would have to:

1. click the little planet icon to get the "all planets" list
2. click on the "tactical" button
3. hope i remembered the planet name so I could go back to it

I would like to be able to click on a ship without cancelling its automove destination so I can look at its info.

Drop down list of sellectable colors for the races.
The ship series could then be auto changed to exicute for the race with the matching color. Probably GalCiv 1.8 or something. But many FEEL differantly toward red vs green, etc. How do you feel about yellow? Some think of cowardess and would never choose yellow for themselves. For me a bright yellow immediatly raises my mood.

I think there should be limits on the number of starbases you can build as well as the number of modules per starbase. These can be increased with new tech, UP votes etc. I don't see why there are limits on trade routes, but no limits on starbases.

Yellow is good or light blue or aqua. Any color that is easily seen on the mini-map.

On the GalCiv planet production control screen, there is a blank area at the top that would be a perfect place for the name of the planet.

Find a system by name.

A message will pop up that a planet in the Andromeda
system is now a 35 class planet! wow!

Now..err..where the heck is it? lol :p

have to click all around the map to find it....
and i usually don't.

if it is a system that is KNOWN...not in the fog a war..
should be a way to find the planet by name fast.

my suggestion ^ and others i assume.

More different filters for the minimap.. Like show traderoutes etc. Had some other in mind also, but I forget.. Too much GalCiv this weekend, not enough sleep.. Must sleep..

Oh yeah... And that "find planet by name" - thingy.. Sounds sweet. I too have a lot of trouble finding those damn planets.

Just noticed.. It would be nice to see the trade routes on the main sector map also.. Now it's sometimes pretty difficult to try and see if a trade route passes some sector if it is really close to its edges.
Also... Does the economic upgrades for starbases only affect the sector it is in or do they also affect the neighboring sectors ?

Has been mentioned somewhere before:

- Two AI allies will in turns try to make peace to you, but will make war the next turn because their ally is still in war with you. This should be easy to fix.

- And what about: if you bribe someone to start a war, this should be at least a minimum number of turns.

1. Fix the "technologies spamming" issue (technos should be sold for less if already known by others).
2. When a civ bribes you to make peace, you should not be allowed to declare war the next turn. Three suggestions : (a)make the senate vote unlikely (b)lower the relations with others (c)make it an "evil" act and adjust the rating accordingly.
3. Implement an "auto-scout" similar to "auto-survey".
4. A "find system by name" (including colonies and other stars).

1. Technology selling is one of the ways you make the cash in the game. Nerfing that makes it harder to keep your early economy afloat.

2. You want to make it against the hardcoded rules to lie politically? You do know that on higher difficulty settings, the AIs simply won't believe you if you pull that thing repeatedly.

When I play a large map it would be useful to be able to zoom the main screen in and out in order to be able to focus my attention on a particular region.

Not sure if these have been raised, but it would be great to have propaganda more centrally located, such as on the planet screen.

Also, it would be great to have the cultural percentage/tech victory percentage on the main screen.

I rarely use that little sentry/guard ship control box. Could you make that a popup and put victory conditions on the main screen?

I know this might not be doable.

Pardon if this one's been listed...it's a niggling little thing anyway.

When a new colony/transport ship is built, and it's the only ship on the planet, it is automatically highlighted as if selected in that box in the bottom-right. Only it isn't selected (you have to click on it first, which causes no visual change). Be nice if when there's only one ship, it truly is selected already.

When colonizing planet and get existing city ruins there is a population penalty for leaving city alone BUT you should also get some kind of bonus for tourism/cultural influence.

1. Permit the player to start with a random type and size galaxy the same way you can randomize everything else.

2. Version Number: List the player's current version # in the read me file. I could very well be wrong (in which I case I'm sorry!) but I don't see the version # listed anywhere??

Thanks!

How about a destination queue?

Something like right-click a target and you have the option to add/delete it from a destination queue. Then, if you right-click a ship, you can send it automatically to one of the queued destinations.

I agree with MojoJojoUK. This forum is amazing...people seem to really listen to what you have to say but I do think that it could be arranged a little better. E.g a general forum, off-topic forum, tips forum, etc.

Very good game. Thanks for all the hard work on the AI. It does such a good job of kicking my butt even though it is not cheating.
I have a few suggestions:

1) I would like to have more variety in ship types. You have the artwork for the ships of the other races. Why not let us pick which set we want each game?
2) I would also like to see an auto-scout function.
3) Can you include the tech id number in the diplomacy screen. There are too many techs to memorize them all, and I would like to know what exactly I am trading. Alternatively, you could just have a link to each tech from the diplomacy screen.
4) Alternate races to the usual five suspects would be nice too.
