Command and Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars DEMO ....

Well the demo has been out since yesterday, anyone else play it? Its 1.2GB download, a little hefty, but well worth it!

I am gonna pick this up once its out, sadly it might come out at the same time as the Sins Beta....

I have a feeling that the RTS of the year will be between Cnc3, SupCom, and Sins...

Game is easily going to be a 9/10 or higher. Pretty good cast for the cut scenes too!

Josh Holloway (Lost) will appear as a Nod Intelligence officer by the name of Ajay
Tricia Helfer (Battlestar Galactica) will be cast as a character named Kilian Qatar
Michael Ironside (Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell series) as Lieutenant General Jack Granger
Billy Dee Williams (Star Wars) as GDI Director Redmond Boyle
Grace Park (Battlestar Galactica) as Lt. Sandra Telfair
Jennifer Morrison (House M.D.) as Kirce James
Shauntay Hinton (Criminal Minds) as the reporter Brittany Bhima
CNN News Reporter Shanon Cook (Robin & Company) as Cassandra Blair
Las Vegas Fox News anchor John Huck as Himself

Hard to believe EA actually released such a good demo! This game reminds me of the quality of CnC games that Westwood made back in the day... Its going to be an excellent redemption for the horrible game CnC: Generals.

I have outgrown clickfests.

Played it. It's pretty good. Although some of the same ole problems are still sticking with the series. The scenes in between are pretty good.

Number 6, Lt. Raszcak, Lando calrissian, Sharon "boomer" valeri, Dr. cameron, John Huck...

this is going to be one confusing game
downloading it now, if the gameplay turn out crap, i'm still curious about the whole storyline.

BTW:
wasn't this out by the 23rd?

I played it on-and-off for the last few days, it's not that bad, but it's not that great either. I feel the campaign is going to be the biggest selling point for me, but the game really feels awkwardly balanced. In addition, some of the pre-rendered live-action cut scenes have an odd issue of playing the audio several seconds in advance of the video sequence (i.e. audio-video desynchronization).

Also, got to play the NOD in the demo. I don't know, but their ultimate war machine seems grossly underpowered compared to GDI Behemoths (that cost far less).

U got to play NOD!? I cant. I could only play GDI, I will have to take another look at this. At any rate all I know is that the Black Hand = gay overpoweredness. When I had my troops in a building one black hand squad walks up and .1 sec later all my guys are dead with almost no structural damage. I know flame throwers are god but that is just BS.

Then the black hand attacked my base and my infantry couldnt kill one before the flamers went off and massacred my infantry again.

If I build tanks, they have these gay unarmored fanatics(human bombs) that run into the them killing my tank and none of the bystanding fanatics not 1 foot for the tank. so whe n fanatic runs into my column of tanks and people, they kill everything and they dont take splash damage. In addition to that, my anit-inf guys try to kill them the fanatics act like they are in full body armor and are able to get through my men and blow eveything up. it is jacked up.

Meh, I'm happy with SupCom for now, Halo Wars and Sins are probably the only other RTS games I'll get this year.

Shhh, SPOILER ALERT! you fool

Yeah, I tried to change the colour afterwards but the edit button wasn't working, d'oh. Well as far as plot points go, its not a biggy.

Ok, playing devils advocate here.

got to play against NOD, and stole one of their avatar mechs, which is indeed underpowered compared to mammoths but, i asume, can be far stronger when canibalising some things.

seriously? I was thinking that the black are are teh sucks. sure, they can clear buildings, but GDI grenadiers can do the same, from greater range and at lower cost.
Zone troopers pwn though, jumpjets, rifles that HURT and pretty fast to.

Then the black hand attacked my base and my infantry couldnt kill one before the flamers went off and massacred my infantry again.

Don't make a huge infantry box when hit by black hand. Your problem would have been easily solved with two sniper teams. but hindsight is always 20/20

serves you right for not scouting and covering them

and none of the bystanding fanatics not 1 foot for the tank. so when a fanatic runs into my column of tanks and people, they kill everything and they dont take splash damage.

Yeah that is odd, they should fix that. hopefully they will, the EA forums have been busy with talk sinse the demo

no way, one squad of riflemen can take out a squad of fanatics no prob. IF you have the range. which should teach you not to fight NOD in twisty streets, which is where they excell (says the background info)

oh by the way, Grace Park's acting SUCKS!
it's truly dreadfull, it almosts hurts to watch it. I've seen pre-schoolers act more convincingly.

Well I just played the gaem again the way I would normally play a game and massacred the NOD.

This time my anit-inf stuff worked so yay for me.

I should have made it mre clear before. It was all out in teh open. I had 3 APCS with riflemen in thm for anti-inf support of my column of tanks and they got nailed. But now everythign is fine. I never use inf, they are the suxors for hp/armor, even the zone troopers.

So now I send in zones with one or two sniper teams in APCs. I spam peds and support with air power and mamoths. Some times I bring in swarms of inf for a carnage effect, but they die to fast because they run past my tanks and out into the open.

You change the player-side or artificial player behavior by first opening the corresponding drop-menu, clicking the item you want, then hitting the key that corresponds to the first letter of that item (i.e. N for NOD), and sometimes clicking the item again. Also, the alien side isn't playable, because all it's unit data is missing from the demo it seems.

Also, the avatar's commandeering feature is really more-expensive and less-useful then can ever be ($3,000 + the cost of the unit being destroyed in the process).

To be honest, I tend to spam infantry as NOD, because it's so freaking cheap to do so at the moment. In tow there is usually a line of their junky NOD tanks for anti-vehicle duty. In addition, if it is possible I'll have those evil stealth bombers, bombing the hell out of everything.

By the way, I hope those bombers get nerfed, because they are so over-powered with them being able withstand so much anti-air power and being invisible half the time.

yeah, the bombers are way overpowered, especially GDI because of the orbital flight thing. It's instant death for conyards.

I miss walls... They are in the single player missions... Yet not in the muli-player or skirmish...
Yeah, considering the walls actually seem to block weapons fire for once, it would have been nice to have them.
Walls always blocked weapons fire
I was mainly referring to other strategy titles, which have walls that don't block fire.
I spent hours downloading. and it stopped in the last 5% or so because of a BLACKOUT
a fucking, 2 minute BLACKOUT.
Its called flashget, and it lets you resume disconnected downloads, even if your PC turns off!
Lots of solutions to that: just use something like FDM
freedownloadmanager.org

Opera does the exact same thing without annoying third-party stuff. I'm sure some FF plugin does the same. Getting it over EAlink works to.

The walls did seem so very usefull. but somehow "it slows down the pace of the game" so they're not buildable. them blocking fire from low units, but not big ones. Same as in FS I think.

anyone know any downloads (flash related or otherwise) capable of speeding up games?
all of my software is drastically outdated.
