Already got Introvideo set to false, and I've tried with setting Iswindowed to true.

I have applied the update to SoaSE from SDC, edited the user.settings file and tried running it again.

Same problem nothing has changed for me.

Are your sound drivers up to date? Please write to [email protected] so I can get your email address. I'll send you something to try.

I've reverted back to my original display drivers, cos those at least allow a minidump the lastest Catalyst 7.3 drivers just produce a zero byte file for the dump.

Here is a minidump taken after the SoaSE Beta1 inc. the update:

My sound drivers were a little out of date, but thats been rectified and hasn't worked either.

Dont ask me how, but the game is now running

Somehow after many hours of installing, reverting, reinstalling drivers & SoaSE several times over the past week it finally worked this morning.

Im off to play

I can run 0.60[b].004 but I can't run 0.60[b].010, any chance of some help please I've sort of exhausted all efforts to get it working.

I tried taking a backup of the C:\Documents and Settings\ folder which I know works with 0.60[b].004 and overwrite the same location after the 0.60[b].010 upgrade. But that hasn't worked either

something must have been corrupted

did you try uninstalling and reinstalling, if you reinstall the game, it automatically installs the newest version of the beta.

I have tried restoring from an archive, I haven't done a complete install over the Internet again. I might give it a go when my PC is free for a few hours... I only have a 512kb connection so it takes a while.

I would uninstall the game via Stardock Central, delete the Sins directory where all your save games and settings are stored, and reinstall via SDC.

thats what I said

It really seems like the 0.60[b].010 update slows down machines. I never had any battles slow my system down until this update. In fact, prior to this update, I was all amazed at how smoothly mass battles ran.

Maybe it is all in my head, but I suspect this update has a memory leak or something.

Its in your head, my battles seem just as they were before...

Ok I reinstalled 0.60[b].010 from SDC from scratch (not from an archive) and it made sod all difference.

in what way does it "not run"? what does it say/do? just blackscreen that you have to alt-tab and shutdown?
Also, you meant 0.62[b].010 I take it?
Yes I did mean 0.62[b].010 well spotted.

I double click on the SoaSE shortcut, a black window flashes up and then closes by itself after 1-2seconds returning me to the desktop. There are no dialogs or prompts regarding minidumps, if I look in the minidump directory they are all zero byte files but do correspond to the correct time/date of trying to run SoaSE.

I can at any time uninstall 0.62[b].010 from SDC, delete the C:\Documents and Settings\\Application Data\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire folder and reinstall 0.60[b].004 from a saved SDC archive. Then copy in a previously saved C:\Documents and Settings\\Application Data\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire folder I know works with 0.60[b].004 and all is good.

There is something in 0.62[b].010 that doesnt agree with my PC
