You will see your color moving along the phase lanes. When it reaches another planet, it will be at full effect. Neutral lines will be gray and enemy culture will be their color.

OK...how many BCs should one build per planet/colony? I put one in each of mine, but in my current game the AI factions are building 24+ per planet/colony? Is this normal?

What?? 24 BC at one planet? Something is wrong in your game.

1 more than the guy next door It's your mojo vs. his. Whoever has more powerful mojo wins.

Yea, the AI's are broadcast center crazy. In the early game I try to keep ahead of them by building more and by keeping ahead in the research but by late game I pretty much give up. It isn't cost effective to out-culture them. I just go break theirs

HEHE! Takes forever to take over their colonies...Does it seem that in the late game the AIs kind of give up? I've been turtling for over 12 hours and now that I have a bunch of huge fleets (fully leveled up), I just walk all over each planet/colony I encounter. Where are my enemies HUGE fleets hiding? I rarely see more than 2 capital ships. My 15+ ships going into a grav well and it's like shooting fish in a barrel! Just takes awhile when there's a lot of fluff to get rid of. HEHE!

The AIs where very prolific in the early game and attacked me often, now there's no challenge. I'm sure the fact we're playing a partially crippled beta has a lot to do with this, but the normal AI is too easy. How much more difficult is hard (I have yet to try)?

I was playing a game with locked teams, and in the early game, my ally scouted a terran world, so I colonized straight to it, and managed to get it before him. The cost of this is I didn't get everything very close to me, and my ally took a dead asteroid behind one of my worlds. The only thing he did with this asteroid was build 4 broadcast centers. It's as if it's just to annoy me.

I've seen games where the enemy AI has had up for 6-7 Broadcast centers.

@Stratt - No doubt since you took its planet it is clearly sending you a message. So can you hear it?

WHO YOU GONNA CALL? ghostbusters...
or are they trying to call Ironclad for IQ increase

kosc, smash!

I liked the broadcast centers, they spread my propoganda over the whole universe (my AI doesnt really build them... could this be a "copier" AI that follows your earlier strategies?) anyhow almost the whole universe was taken over by my prolific propogandizing. it was fun.

I must make a correction, there's 32+ in this picture...HEHE! (My uber l337 fleet is in blue, made short work of this planet!)

What causes the cessation of fighting (white star-like icon below every ship)? Is it an upgrade I have or are the BCs causing this? It's rather annoying having to wait x amount of seconds for it to wear off, multiple times until I'm done destroying everything...

I assume it would be the "peacemaker" upgrade on the cruiser. Yes?

yep, its indeed very annoying. if it were to only target a small area, it would be alot better. But as it is now, half of a GW is targeted

I think it's a neat feature, but it would be nice to be able to shut it off. Wait, can you shut it off?

The main benefit it has is it allows your fleet to auto-repair and/or a chance to get to the edge of the grav well, for a hasty retreat. The problem is when your blasting the enemy and it goes off, I don't want my enemy to start auto-repairing!

I build them on my outer reaches. I don't build at every planet just enough to keep my culture even. I really don't focus too much on that.

I have seen no affect of it doing anything to my economy then again by the time I can really afford towers, im already maxed out at 75% taken away from me for upkeep costs.

so is indiscriminant bombing and killing people over diplomacy, I do that anyway.

shame, its really powerful and can upgrade your income amazingly.

I've had it increase my income by 30% with 3 towers.

trust me, you may not have noticed what it does, but its good.

hmm, i thought it was a max of 10% as ive tryed to build like 10 or 15 and it was still on 10% and no enemy influenced my planet

it may have been another couple of upgrades I was applying to my planets, but the point remains; thats a hefty bonus for a growing empire.
indeed
But near the endgame (after 7-8hour), you kinda depends on traders for income, as all the planets are going for the upkeep

Green conquered this planet, and without finishing off the enemy's broadcast centers, he began building his own.
