Sound issues when first playing.

When I first play/start the game, it sounds like there is static in the backround. It goes away after awhile but I thought the patch was supposed to fix it

yeah i have the same problem.

i've got a dell dimension 4600
Pentium 4 @ 2.66 GH
512 RAM
Windows XP
ATI RADEON 9800
Direct X9.0c
and a Creative SB Live! Series sound card that is updated.

at first i thought it might've been the game running too slow for my graphics card, so i pulled the graphics detail level down, but still didnt help.

I've noticed static and crackling myself when I have a web browser open with youtube, or some other flash-based player going - likely some kind of conflict accessing the audio buffer. Any chance this is part of the problem? Do you usually run while other apps are running?

Also, try turning hardware acceleration to the opposite setting in the sounds options menu.

nothing else is running when i play, so thats not it.
and the hardware accelerator doesn't change it either.
