At this point they haven't really said anything, but the genral feel of it is a definite "No". But that won't stop a slew of Modders from saying 'HAHA' and doing it anyways

It will be possible to rename planets and ships. The orange button above the portrait will do this (among other things) in the future.

Now back to reality... Blair will the orange button allow us to see how much damage our ship does at current time? And give stats on all the bonuses applied from research?
