Star Wars Mod

Star Wars Mod

I figured since it is inevitable, I will start a thread to get ideas out on a star wars mod. Who will the sides be? What will the map look like? Units? Tech? etc.

Star Wars fighters don't operate anywhere near the speed of light, and operate at minimal range without getting hit by those turrets.  The only reason they should miss is because they are manually targetted by people with shitty reflexes.  Current real world military tech is vastly more advanced in computer targetting than Star Wars tech is.
End of psychoak's quote

Actually, given a small, fast a target and a large, presumably slow-tracking turret - keeping in mind that the speed/precision inverse relation to turret tracking probably holds tru even in technofantasy settins - going in really, really close is a GREAT idea: it makes it really, really bloody hard for the turret to track you.

Without taking into account power dissipation over distance due to imperfect optics - which one can assume to be neglibible when you have warp and artificial gravity, since you have both the power and mean to use gravity lenses - the optimal distance to shoot at something with a projoectile or beam turret in space is equal to how far you can target.

After all, we're talking about manned craft, and no matter how many magictechnical thingamjigs you pack in them, you still can't evade a focused light beam or pulse at the distances SW and ST craft fight at, because of the limitation of human reflex speed.

Anyway, the whole discussion is moot and purely for fun, you might as be asking "In a game of 4-dimensional chess, who would win, a platypus or a badger?"

Aw man, that's easy.  The Badger would eat the Platypus = instant win...and a free meal.

What kind of stupid question is that?

At least ST vs. SW allows total nerds (like myself) to proudly proclaim the greatness of Star Destroyers.  Yes, no Federation ship can beat a Stat Destroyer in single combat.  Only ship that possibly could would be a Borg Cube.

i installed the mod and put it into the mod folder, but it won't show up in the game's mod menu

Go Grand Admiral Pellaeon The Old Man of the Empire

A perfectly valid one, since the ST and SW operate in realities with a different set of physical laws :cylon:

Star Destroyer.net answers it

Jesus christ guys this thread is just etting trashed with all this ST vs SW nonsense... no-one cares about your ability to display epic levels of nerdyness, lets just keep this about pure Star Wars and the mod!

@Richdog - seconded.

GET THE F*** out you F**** nerds. Go dressing into Spock and princess Leia in your basements (where hopefully you don't have internet connection).

Hehe, thirded.  In my defense, I tried to get the discussion onto real life issues instead of Star Wars versus Star Trek.

If you don't like the heat, get out of the kitchen. A discussion will go on so long as there's nothing else at the time.

Actually, the playtpus. Why? because they defy the common sense of nature, and the males have a crippling poison on little spines on the back of their feet.

Besides, the platypus is mother nature's way of saying, "I made this thing out of spare parts, and it can STILL f*cking cripply you!" And I have to respect a living hodgepodge.

lets get back on topic u damn nerds!!   if anyones visited the warlords site recently they might of seen the new mc90 cruiser and its amazing! jus wonderin if it was gonna be in the sins version of the mod?

Currently working on finishing the Nebula SD, once that is done there are a few more ships to clean up for the alliance.

I can't fricken wait for this mod... if it's done properly it will be beyond uber.  The thought of calamari cruisers facing off against star destroyers while X-Wings/TIE-Fighters flit arround dogfighting and Y-Wings/TIE-Bombers go for the capital ships has me moist with delight.

You have to turn on the mod in the options menu. Once you do that the Empire is just a faction that you select as you would TEC, Vasari, or Advent in a normal game.

I'll start it:

Who's played The Force Unleashed yet?

I think the ratings out have been a little harsh. I love the game so far. And as far as it relates to the mod; I don't know if you've seen it yet, but it's no mystery that one of the levels is on an Imperial shipyard. Well in the cutscene before this level, you see the Shipyard from outside and it's massive. I think it would be good to include it in the mod.

No I haven't played it yet.  I swear George Lucas is senile.  He hasn't even though of making a PC version.

I played it!

And I gotta say, I'm loving it.

Sure, yeah, it can get a little repetative and frustrating (I hate the purge troopers with a fiery passion that can only be expressed with the dream of violently ripping out their wiring in handfulls), but the game is still fun. I've beaten it twice (once ending it as a good guy, the second as a bad) and I still haven't unlocked the last costume. The other thing I'm looking for is the black crystal for my saber (You know...the one that makes the blade black).

As far as this mod gos, I'm just going to go ahead and repeat the fatc that I can't wait for this mod XD (Just so I don't make an off-topic post, but it is still true).

ok, so the edit button isn't working for me on this comp.

What I wanted to add in to my post is that there were two construction facilities featured in TFU: one TIE facorty, the other a Star Destroyer Factory (The TIE was over Nar Shadaa, the SD was over RAxus Prime). As far as putting them in the mod goes...He'd have to either make the models from scracth (He's good, but I'm not sure if he's THAT good) or to find them somewhere else (This is more likely, but not sure of the chances here, either).

I've only seen the TIE factory so far. Now I can't wait to see the SD factory. The TIE one was pretty awesome and epic in of itself, so I can only imagine what the SD factory looks like. As far as Eville's talents go, I have complete faith that he can pull something like that off.

*And I haven't been able to beat Unleashed yet, so please don't post any spoilers for me and others who want to play the game.
