Qutting sins = bad idea

after quitting sins i see this:



After i end the process, it just moves on to other things...


And it moves abit further...
And why would paint use 50% of 3.5ghz p4 HT


Ive also seen after quitting sins that my CPU usage, would be at 100% without any processes takeing more the a max of 1-2% like normal.
Ill take a screenshot of that when it happens again

hmm, it seems like its getting worse...
When ever i quit a program, it will quit but still be as a process, and take 50%

i just quit notepad, after that it needed 50% lol

Id say Supreme Commander demands more, and after quitting that, everything is fine.

It has to be something on your pc, I swear I quit the game and everything is normal... Have you defragged lately? Also how large is your page file? And is it on the same drive as sins?

yeah, been asking around on irc, and no one seems to have this problem.

But its weird it only happens with sins. it have never happened to any of my other games.

i used a vacuum cleaner, less then a month ago, and my heat levels are normal.

Hmm, but it seems more of a problem, when i load my savegame that will crash after a few min. But i quit before it does so. And when i quit, all hell breaks loss lol

Suggest the standard helpdesk-Dunno-what's-causing-it solution.

Reinstal the game and see if that works.....

Of course, the best solution is to keep playing

Check your page file!!! Sounds like the system is just trying to catch up after over extending itself... if that makes sense, lol...

no page file. Only using the 3gb of ram ive installed.
Tryed to increase the swapfile from 1gb-3gb and 10gb, nothing changed...

Even X3 when it demanded 2.5gb (before i got the extra 2gb of ram) nothing of this "bug" happend.

If it were a hardware problem, or software, i would have thought the same problem would happen to other games, but it doesent...

its a Gainward GeForce 7800 GS / 512MB / AGP / GS+


hm... thread name almost looks like Q-tip...

anyhow I've never had this problem, ask stardock.

Q-tip? like they made it intensionally, to keep us playing?

ive also got a problem, that has nothing to do with sins.
That sometimes games/programs runs very very slow. Like its running 3 times the same program. But if i quit the program and start it again it will "maybe" run normal... takes a few tryes

I think its dieing
Luckely im getting the last few componets for my new system tomorrow.
So this nightmare can be gone.

If its because its dieing, what could be the cause of this bugs? some transisters not working properly?

I had massive slow probs at one stage was advised online could be invalid and chocked registry entries.
Bought a program called "registry mechanic " by PC tools - did appear to fix the problem and with regular use my system has returned to normal - maybe worh having a look at .

Also have a look at mike lins free program called "startup control panel " allows you to stop all the rubbish loading up on initial startup - also a major problem with slow downs .

Any clues in Windows' Event Viewer ? (Start->Run: eventvwr) I've seen bad harddisks have some pretty crazy results on system performance. If you're (un?)lucky, that can throw really angry errors into the event viewer.

I'm not a beta tester, but from what I understand about programming and operating systems.

It looks like the Sins process isn't terminating properly or the OS isn't linking properly when you think you kill a process it doesn't terminate properly and masquerades as another process
Of course I could be dead wrong, you should put in a bug report and ask the devs what they need to figure out what isn't working properly.

Remember you are beta testing a product and this is what needs to be caught in the beta stage before the product is released to the general public and people actually buy it. So comparing Sins to released game isn't a fair comparison because these massive bugs have already been fixed.

It could just be windows rot, but you might try memtest86+, a couple years ago I had to dump three sticks of ram that were causing me problems. Since then it's been Registered ECC all the way for me, a little slower but takes more punishment. Also check the size of your windows\system32 folder since those are dlls that are getting loaded. Registry Cleaner and Registry Mechanic aren't bad, I do uninstall them after I'm done. I like a clean process list. As for the page file it's not really neccesary however unless you have one specified directx won't run correctly. Mine is set to 256MB and I have never had a problem with the size. If I set it any lower, my system checking software throws a notice in the event viewer, but it will run fine at 2MB. I've only got 2GB too.

Thanks all

But what ive done so far:
SuperPI
3dmark06, it also shows random results, because of the random slowdown. But a few start and stopping, will make it run normal. Usualy take 3-4 tryes.
The sins problem, seems random. At times it does close down right. But my pc gets weird, like slows down proformance (its not the same as the random slowdown i get with other games).
Used Registry Mechanic, i kinda use that once a month.

So if i get the sins "bug" and the random slowdown at the same time, games becomes total unplayable with 0-10 fps.
Only way to fix it, is a restart. It doesent help just logging off.

Ill do some further testing later today, with your suggestions
