Save Game Question

Just a quick question please tell me that save games have LOTS of optimization to go 120mb for 1 save game seem rather excesive.

Of course it does. File optimization is very low on the priority list for such endeavors. It is one of the last things worked for logical reasons.

they're 120mb? ahh, that explain where my HD space went...

My saves average about 60MBs. But then I dont build large fleets. I suspect they will refine the code to more of a ZIP or RAR compression soon.

Yea, they compress very nicely in zip files so I'm sure they'll be able to squeeze them quite a bit before the final release.

Easy way to do something about it, let windows do a compression on the directory. I know I did that with my Supreme Commander saved game dir and it was cut in half. In the case of this it should compress much more, if a 90meg save can be cut to 3meg in a rar file it should at least but cut to 1/9th of its size just doing a folder compression.

1.16 and still waiting... :-( Though 7zip seems to do the job very well and is LGPL'd... *hint hint*
