Yes Wraith. My name was longer at some point but I shortened it.

Playing as Som-taaw was a lot more specialized, but I loved playing as the Beast where sheer amounts of units was the way to go. Unless you intended to have a long game, which was where the IAFs came into play.

Right now the TEC are like the Som-taaw; they have specialized ships but it's not noticable. And they only have, like, 9 units. I mean the Beast had more types of fighters/corvettes! 'course you just mixed and mashed them together to make a giant ball of death.

And you're right about the difference between the units. I really don't see a difference between a seige frigate and the scout frigate, just get enough of them together and it won't matter. The capital ships feel the same way too; I never build a "bomber" cruiser, I just build a bunch of them and that's all there is to it.

the idea of a megaship would be pritty cool.. infact i think the game needs more ships as a hole. There are not that many ships at the moments and because of this players tactics will be basically the same.. who cares about the smaller ships just build a ton of bigger ones and bash the ememy.. the fact there are only 2 types of fighters and weapons on all ships are limited.. From a tacctical view the game is gonig to be very limited..

not that i dont like the game hehe just got it loaded up yesterday infact.


It is a shame you cant customise the ships to how you want them as you could in other games.. it brings more depth to the game.

I guess it would bog people down to micromanaging things maybe upgrades could be apllied to all ships with the same name type or somthing...

Anyway we just need more ships in the same

from what I hear, I'm seconding spartan on this one.

what was the beta 2 supposed to be about... it was "singleplayer dynamics". not even balance, just "dynamics"

its a very vague description. unfortunately I've long since lost trust in vague.

Balance isn't coming till the last beta if you read the gamespot interview. Does that mean we will never see the full array of ships till the last beta? I really don't think so.

I totally agree with this, lol, only time I ever send my entire fleet at enemy systems is when I'm getting bored of the game, lol.

Also about what momo said about ships being modular, and Spartan said it would be some sort of racial. I can honestly see the Vasari having an ability like this. From the recent FAQ the Vasari were called a race of people who specilize in fast resource gathering, small numbers of effective ships (Stronger ships at higher costs) and a people on the run. This would all point to being able to link ships together, to make a bigger structure (but one non the less) to reduce the cost of jumping to new systems, as I could imagine it would be cheaper to jump one HUGE ship rather than many small ships. THis is just my interpretation of the FAQ. THis could also add alot to stealth, such that if you see a vasari ship you don't necesarily know if it's gonna break into multiple smaller ships the moment it's jusmp is complete, or if you see multiple smaller ships, you don't know if they're gonna join into one bigger ship and attack singular targets. THis can be a major part of hit and run operation.

the discussion is going well!

megaships, dear devs, are something I feel the community and the game would benefit from.

megaships being built as large, unique-to-each ships with customizable traits and perhaps even designs. megaships should be balanced by cost and be constructed in such a way that their functions don't slate the game towards wild imbalance.

they should be like the Bismark, except maybe having a bit more longevity.
