Sins Community Update

Sins Community Update

I want to extend our thanks to everyone who's been providing feedback so far on the Sins beta test. We've gained a lot of great information from our beta testers and from the Sins community as a whole.  This post is to give everyone an update on the progress of the game and where we're going from here. At the end of this post you'll also find two exclusive new shots from our internal builds to speculate over.

The first thing to expect in the next couple of months is a completely redesigned Sins website. The new site will contain up-to-date information on the game, new screenshots, and more. We'll also be releasing a fan-site kit in the future for those of you who may want to put up your own pages about Sins. In mid-June, everyone can look forward to the Beta 2 release of Sins. Beta 2 will remain TEC only and the focus will be on single-player gameplay dynamics.

At this point, some of you are probably thinking, "Isn't June a bit late for Beta 2 if the game's going to ship in August?" After reading everyone's ideas and feedback so far on Beta 1, Ironclad and Stardock have decided to push Sins' release back to February 2008. We realize this will be a disappointment to some of you, but the simple fact is that we all want to release the best game possible. The extra time will allow us to add more depth and features to Sins, including some stuff we had only wished we had time for previously.  This extended release schedule means there will be two additional betas after Beta 2 that will focus on multiplayer content.

Thank you all for your continued support!

Thanks for the good/crap news. What I find so cool is that the beta testers are such an enormous part of this game. You guys basically give us the basic build and the concept and we tell you exactly what we like and don't like. Then you guys have to do all the work and you deliver what we want. Can't think of any gaming companies that do that. It is always heres the beta that is a complete game that we really can't change gameplay wise but here it is. to the professionals that you guys are.

On a personal note, with as busy as I have been, I am glad the game won't be out this summer, I probably wouldn't get to play it very much.

Cool, I'm not surprised, I thought August was a bit early, I wasn't quite expecting 2008 but I'll live, at least it frees up my precious finances for other 2007 games and Sins will most likely be my first game of 2008.

You've kinda backed yourself into a corner now though, with all this extra time I expect nothing but perfection!

IMO Stardock and IronClad's greater obligation is to release a good game...not a game in

that excuse doesn't really work when its already past the time of the original release date...
yep same here, the august release seemed somehow to early to me

a serious question; how long has the game been in development.
Thanks for the support gang.

yeah? well   .
Keep in mind that the beta testers have preordered the game and are primarily the ones posting suggestions and improvements that they'd like to see in SoaSE. Yes, the delay is disappointing but it would be so much worse if SD and IC came out and said "Thanks for all the great ideas but few or none will be implemented b/c we want to hit our launch date. Thank you for purchasing SoaSE...keep an eye out for an expansion pack set to go on sale in the new year. Tentatively titled 'SoaSE: The Way the Fans Actually Wanted SoaSE to be.'"

I can understand this, except that the beta got shoved back 3 months, the game was already shoved back for a full year and now theres another 1/2 year pullback.
I appreciated the first delays because they made sense. but I dont see how there can be a 1/2 years of work on an already pretty damn fun game. I dont see what could possibly be added that could make the game require so much more time!

Beings that most of you have pointed out the major concerns I have about the game - and the post 'Sins Community Update - by momoguru' answers even more questions I had; I have only 3 things to say:

1) A BIG LOL at all of uuuuuuuuuuuu's
"How Dare U" @ COMPLAINERS!!!
After all - some of us don't want a repeat of Homeworld!!!!   Sure - rush it to the market and forget about the small buggy details. Then instead of fixing the bugs - 'loose' the source code    and have to start all over again w/ new versions (Homeworld Cata/2 - ring a bell any1 ??)

2) POST UR FEED BACK!!!! - get it in now while we can have a say.   I personally dont want SOASE to be 'OUTDATED' in 10 years and have peeps signing online sayin' "WOW - peep's still play this game?"

3) The only other thing I would like to add is - HOW ABOUT CIVILIZATION UPDATES IN FUTURE. What I mean is - after SOASE has been on the market awhile (2yrs. or so) - how about an update or patch w/ like 3 entirely new civilizations to add to what we start off with (new ships - reaserch - all). That would be UNIQUE - kinda like expansion packs   besides a sequal is NEVER AS GOOD AS THE ORIGINAL!!!!!

The extra time will allow us to add more depth and features to Sins, including some stuff we had only wished we had time for previously

in my hysterical way
like what?
if I get an answer for that, maybe I'll stop playing the devil's advocate.

I'm sorry, I see no evidence of this even being an issue at 1/2 years time.

with all this crap going on between emperor and schem no wonder the devs had to push back the game
Reply #50 Top
of course, because the devs love watching us argue.
