Games that should have had their release date's moved back... And why I <3 IC/SD

The longest LordKosc post EVER!

With Sins being pushed back till 2008, I at first was sad inside, asking myself why... It looks so good as it is, a little spit and polish and you have a game that is better than 90% of the games that are released in a given year.

Then I realized just how much better it could be... A resolution to the phase lanes, super capital ships, a Super Pwn SentientSchematicsofNinjas end game button, and other stuff. Now I don't know what else will be added , or if those options are even being considered anymore by the IC staff.

So I sat down and asked myself, what games have I recently played that were just ok, that could have been GREAT games, if they were held back 6-8-10 months...

Three easily come to mind. Command and Conquer 3, Supreme Commander, and Star Trek Legacy.

Cnc3, lacks a decent zoom, sides are not balanced well, walls were taken out, and game overall has a rushed feeling. Sadly I did buy it, and shortly after sold it on Ebay... The EA forums are really crowded with upset people, and the forever echoing cry of "Where are the Walls???" You know there are problems when people start petitions to get additions to the game for things that should have been in the game in the first place...

Star Trek Legacy... Just horrible... It was a Xbox360 port that was almost unplayable. Voice acting was also lackluster. Game controls on the PC were almost impossible to use, and some didn't even work at all. 2 Patches later and the game is still a mess MAD Doc/ Bethsada are no where to be found... Their forums are a dead zone of poor lost souls hoping for someone to mod the game into what it could have been.

Supreme Commander, while not horrible, seems to be lacking the in depth feeling you wish you could have with every great game. I just don't feel connected to my units. And the question arises if the game is just too EPIC in scale... I have only gone 3 missions into single player and lost interested. Multi-player is ok, but it just doesn't seem as much fun as it could be.

What does everyone else think? I bet if these games had come out months later, they would all be better. It would have also helped if the developers actually listened to what the fans wanted. Repeat business depends on keeping the new and old happy. A lot of companies seem to forget that.

Stardock and Ironclad are two rare gems in sea of corral. The push back is more proof, of a relationship of two companies that want to put out something that says: we care, we listened, and we did all we could to make a game that lives up to your expectations!

I do believe this is my longest post ever... Also feel free to list some other games you feel were rushed to the market, and what you think could have changed if the developers had listened and were open to feedback from their respective fan bases.

anyone have shadowrun? any comments on it?

You need an Xbox Live subscription if you want any value out of the PC version. Plus it only runs on Vista.

It ended up my shelve faster then any other game I've ever bought.
Interesting gameplay however, if there were any servers to play on.

Not sure how you got it out of my post that I sold the game.
It's on my shelve, along side all the other games I don't play anymore.

Shadowrun feels like a poorly counter-intuitive somewhat rushed game. The console feel to the menus and server/account setups doesn't help.

The fact that there were NO servers available for those without a paid subscription was the killer however.
Which is unfortunate as the gameplay was a fresh breath to an otherwise stale genre.

I personally loathe SOE with a burning hate for ruining SWG by bringing in all the "upgrades" (make it easy peasy for newbs, nerf peeps who had being playing for ages and worked their way up) screwed up a great game. I went to EVE personally...

lol, yay for eight day later replies

I know. but to be fair it had to be said. if there is an ability to name the enemy leader/commander in this game mine is gonna be called SOE. curse you for making jedi accesible from level 1 after I mastered 12 professions to get mine. curse you!!!

lol, you need to make a thread for 'games that should be killed'

just the games, or the dev's that ruined it aswell?
nah, that would be too big of a "hit list"
I wouldnt be so sure about that.anyone else here play SWG? I played since the final beta and when I started it took months if not a year to become a jedi. then there was a posibility you would get perma-death on your jedi and have to start the jedi character all over again. youd still have the slot unlocked but still...

the new menu-"Choose your profession-Jedi (omg pwning on legs) OR Bounty Hunter(oooh we gonna nerf you)"

hm.........then theres alwys trader.....

STARTREK LEGACY!!!

I have yet to see a MMO that will challenge me beond the "who clicks best"

If Star Trek Online plays anything like eve online it might be worth something, but it seems lately nobody has been able to make a decent trek game without somehow screwing up the gameplay or giving it some idiotic dumbed down story. Every trek game that came since the Starfleet Command series (with the exception of SFC3 which was awful), Ironically The SFC series is based off an old board game called Starfleet Battles that was based on the TOS era of trek. SFC adapted the gameplay of the old board game perfect.

Eve online wasnt really a clickfest. It was more of a giant game of rock, paper, sissors. Most of the time what you broght to the fight would determine the winner. Tho i have seen fights that should have been lost won with good tactics (and some crazy suicide maneuvers ). The only frantic clicking i ever had to do was to execute the "get the hell out of here" maneuver

i agree with it all but i still like supreme commander tho it can lag sometimes and legacy i thort wont that bad mind u i stayed up for ages and completed it then got board like all the games i play nearly but not sins
