Setting ctrl-group issues...

I've noticed with my large fleet (12 caps + many misc frigs), when I band everything into ctrl-group 1 (including the 56 advanced fighter/bomber wings), that once a squadron is lost and replaced, it's not part of the ctrl-group anymore. This is annoying, as it makes me have to constantly "add" the new wings, during my large battles (one MORE unnecessary micro-management duty). Has this been discussed before? I would really like the fighter/bomber wings created by the carriers, to inherit the ctrl-group status of that particular carrier.

I do not believe this issue has been directly addressed by anyone. I think it is a capital idea!

I agree.

I also think that the fighters ought to get some sort of different treatment in the empire tree, since they'll often double the size of my fleet in terms of sheer icons. Maybe a second, collapsible tree for them?

fyi you can use shift+ a number to add the ships to the battlegroup w/o select THE whole group.

Just thinking about doing that (even MORE micro-management), made my carpal tunnel flare up! HEHE

It isn't more micro trust me all you have to do is select the new group then shift+"your group number you want them to be add to" and your cake is done.

For me, what you're suggesting works fine on a few ships and I'll probably use it for those situations...In my EPIC battles that would be a pain in the ass. The main point of this topic was really why the fighter squadrons coming out of a carrier (in a ctrl-group), would not be considered part of that ctrl-group anymore? That doesn't make much sense, but thanks for the tip.

I understand where you are coming from slim in relative with the ctrl-group however they alway target the ship's target so you don't have to control them directly unless you want them to kill those pesky frigates?
