More colors!

I found this screenshot when searching google about sins news

i was like wow... i dunno if its just a coincidence, but it just looks alot better then our current backgrounds.
Look at the blend of black, pink, purple.

another thing ive been thinking about is the bullet colors

compared to the bullets from the trailer

so i wounder if the bullets we have now, are just temporary?

The ones in the trailer are most likely from Advent ships, based on the other screenshots we've seen, thus the difference.

Image is broken.

The graphics from the trailer we released are totally out-of-date now.

Resources at Ironclad are allocated elsewhere.

As Yarlen said, the Graphics in the Trailer are almost a year old now, Everyship in the trailer(minus a few) are gone.

First image is broken, not sure what it is of. And what was it about the projectiles that was so wrong?

the first image is fixed, or else heres a link http://www.hodnoceniher.cz/screenshots/5079.jpg

yeah i can see i didnt explain myself well enough
what i ment was, that in the trailer the bullets do look cooler. At about 1min into the trailer you see the ships firering, the weapons fire there looks alot better. They seem to have more color/texture (or what its called) to them, compared to the once we got now, look at image 2

heres an image of the bullet/projectile comparison im talking about

lol heres the image...

well, not just because its alot of black, but the blending of them all makes it look alot better.
This image do look alot more spacey

note: if you cant see the image, try and right click it and show image

That's actually one of the really old screens. But you're right, the background does look nice.

I do like that skybox. Reminds of the dark purply and green nebulae of Freespace 2.

However I am glad they changed the Phase Drive effect.

i think what the game really needs is a slider to make it darker/brighter.

you mean contrast?
it has nothing to with that, its more how the colors are put together. Atm we have a full colored skybox. No matter where ever you look within a solar system its always the the same color. Thats why i feel that image is so special, since it also shows some of the blackyness of space oh and ofcourse the blending of the colors is just wow

i don't mean contrast, i literally mean i feel the game is just too bright. Ya ya maybe it's my monitor, maybe i could just adjust my monitor, but i would rather have a way to turn down the brightness. I guess if I had the ability to adjust my contrast or gamma that also would make things darker.

another idea to put more color into a solar system, or rather into a asteroid/planet is some kind of nebulas, that will interfere in some way.
i made an exsamble of what i mean here. i linked it, because its a 1mb gif file..
it shows a green nebula, that will hide the fleets somewhat, the counter on the panel that says how many ships there are, will flicker

On the second picture (the one with all of the ships attacking the space station), what is the ship on the far right called and does anyone have some really good screenshots of it? Also, it looks pretty cool, but how well does it perform in battle?
It's a carrier, and it handles mediocre in battle. It's strength (no surprise here) is in it's ability to carry alot of fighters.

so am i the only one that feels that the bullet/projectiles looks better in the trailer?

The skyboxes before beta 1 were much darker. However, the major downside was that you could barely see your ships (seriously, on the dark side of a planet, forget it). The solution was to brighten up the skyboxes so that players could actually see what was going on. This may have to be revisited in some way towards a more ideal solution.

hmm, maybe the ships could have more lights on them. Like energy sparks, windows turning on and off.

I'm all for a darker option. Regarding finding the ships have a "glow" option for the player to enable or a button to click on that pings the ships when zoomed out. Part of the attraction of space games for me is the endless night and black cold depths such an environment entails.
