I don't think anyone has mentioned the fact now with 2 types of research station, military and civilian, we can still only do research one station at a time

well actually...
but given that you now have two totally separate set of labs, why can't you have combat / civilian researches going concurrently?

BUT!
I agree that this should be looked at, even if its going to be dumped because it speeds up research too much.
Hmmm, while I might agree that the separate military and civilian labs should do their research simultaneously, the problem is that we would rarely have the resources to do so = simultaneous research is a good idea, but not likely to make much of a difference.

Here is a thought for Ironclad to ponder.

Concerning Phase Space Inhibitors, maybe they should be given a smaller inhibit range. This way, they have to be built closer to emerging enemy fleet and thus be more vulnerable...no more tucking them way back on the other side of your gravity wells.

Speak for yourself, bubba.

In case you didn't notice, now all they do is prevent the enemy from traveling to other of "your" systems. Adding this in would way under power them.

I usually queue up reasearch at least one from each sector now , civ, and mil.

Hoshiko Rbotics Cruisers are chasing the trade ships around to repair them in the middle of a planetary assault or defense. Their pilots will be shot at dawn for crimes of stupidity against the Empire.

They need to ignore them, they fly in to gauss cannons range and ignore the most important role, and that is to repair the main fleet.

I even had a Hoshiko phase jump with a trade ship while it was repairing it.

LOL!

Ouch, yeah -- I have them doing that too. Its (almost) as bad as having the flak frigates prioritize going and hitting enemy vessels to their (far more important) role of countering enemy fighters / defending the fleet from enemy fighters. (I could easily settle for either approach, having them seek and engage fighters first or spread out and cover their fleet, but I really would prefer the latter.)

IMO, he doesn't need to be shot.

He needs to be spaced, with all relatives neutered so that the genes of raw stupidity don't get spread.

"Major, what are you doing? I need that repair to the Kol, we're at critical damage!!!"

"oh I'll be right back, let me go heal this passerby"
*phasespaces*

"MAJOR MAJO..."
*BOOM... chzzz.... chzzz*

*two minutes later*
*drops out of hyperspace*
"wow, I dont remember this much debris when I phased out, I wonder where the general's kol is?"

i made all the starting resources 10x more and this mad the game alot more interesting. the ai spent alot on reaserch almost as much as me and the also made large fleets. this made th game very good. also i have found that u know those planetary bonuses use up the artifact thing from the start of the game i think this is bad and the artifacts need 2 be increased

BTW, why do I *have* to jump straight to alliance? Isn't it labeled "Non-aggresion" rather than ally? Shouldn't I be able to choose alliance (with the burden of assisting my ally) as a separate option?
yea i agree and when u become an ally they dont leave u in like 2 mins even though u just gave them 1000000 million sds. i als think there is a problem with fighters they go after the cap ship that owns them target insted of bombers which is annoying iv also seen the fighter hanger fighters go after cap ships and other ships not bomers. ohh yes u know what would be cool a fighter bomber which is like half as good at bombing than a bomber and half as good at shooting fighers than a fighter.

I think we really, really need to be able to adjust priorities ourselves. Like I said before, I can't stand it when my ships go haring off after a colony ship or trade ship when they should be getting rid of the structures that MAKE the ships. Or flack ships that go after cap ships, they need to go after the fighter/bombers or maybe the robot ships, maybe.

It would be nice to see who is after who on the diplo screen. It make it hard to tell when you hear the announcer say that an ally is being attacked. By who? Why? When you manage to make friends with everybody they're all yellow (orange?). And they all seem to be attacking each other with abandon. Oh, and can we cut down on the anouncements? They reach the level of just noise and don't add anything. Especially "A friendly fleet has arrived" WHERE DAMNIT???? And why do the others whisper? While I'm not hard of hearing, a normal conversation tone is quite all right.

Inquiring minds want to know.

Jperzio, would you please restate your comment more clearly?

In fact, might I recommend that you type your posts out in word, or some other processor, and spell / grammar check them before you post them? You're very hard to read, and I usually just end up skipping your posts.

Spellcheck.net is a tool I used a lot my self some years back.

That and google are great tools if you don't know the exact spelling for a word, and goes a long way in presenting a better image of your self when you're participating in an online discussion.

Even Firefox has built in grammar correction now a days. That's like the ultimate tool above and beyond all else.

Actually, its only spell check. And while that will go a long way to making him someone that people actually bother to read, rather than skip, its not going to be enough. He needs to use punctuation and capitalization too.

eh, mehbeh you should learn how to read <3

I know full well how to read. Its just that dropping all capitalization and most punctuation makes it unreadable.

i also think there is a problem with fighters, they go after the cap ship that owns them.

Yeah, I've seen that too Eet, rather annoying when I tend to just task my bombers on those vessels anyway -- reducing enemy carrier strength is always important, IMO. I just wish *I* could see the "connection" between squad and carrier at times, though.

A hybrid would be interesting, but you'd have to be careful not to make it overpowered. It would have to be less than half as good at everything to be balanced.

Trade and Refinery ships should be reduced in priority for combat ships to the point that they come after any opposing ships and structures.

There's little point in blowing them out of the sky while there is still an enemy presence in the gravity well in the form of ships or structures.

I did mean a spellchecker. My fingers typed grammar instead though. The phase lane between my brain and fingers had a disruption.

Yeah, I've seen that too Eet

yeah, you did.

Eh, more like spent 3 seconds on before deciding that if I can't get past the first sentence, its not worth the time. OK, I skipped over it. And its not like you labeled it as a quote!

This is one I disagree with. Taking out trade / refinery ships is a nice blow to the enemy's economy. It should definitely come after killing any military units, but logistics structures should come second for lighter units. (Leave capitol ships, kodiaks, and the like on the structures, just let fighters and maybe light frigates go after the trade ships...)

As it is setup now though, they are chasing trade ships instead of blowing up the Trade Port/Refinery/Broadcast Centers. Which doesn't make sense as all three of those structures far exceeds any minor hit you may incur to the opponents credits and resources by blowing up their Trade/Refinery ships.

Except the trade ships are probably from other systems -- you can take out the economy boost from those systems as well as this one with a little creative thinking

I would like to request that we are allowed to choose the background color for our games, I dont want a red background just because i choose the color red .. or a green one if i choose a green color.. I like a dark blue background no matter the icon color i choose to play.please this is so annoying can we get a fix for it please

... What are you talking about?

Stellar backgrounds are chosen randomly for each individual system. And thats the only thing that even comes close to what your talking about. And since thats random, not locked to your color, I don't think thats what you're talking about.

In the "effects" menu there are two check boxes for the background. One is the colorful, the other is the deep space. If currently have a colorful background that you don't like, you just can uncheck the box and check it again. It then randomly choses another background. Do this until you've one that you like.
