Pre-Order FAQ

Pre-Order FAQ

All your questions answered on ordering and downloading Sins

From time-to-time questions pop-up about how people can participate in the pre-order process. Hopefully this FAQ will answer many of those questions.

  •  How can I pre-order the game?

You can pre-order the game through TotalGaming.net by clicking on the Store link above.

  • What are the system requirements for the game?

The minimum system requirements are:

- Windows XP SP2 / Vista
- 1.8 GHz Single-Core Processor
- 512 MB RAM (1 GB RAM for Vista)
- 128 MB 3D DirectX 9 Video Card (Radeon 9600 / GeForce FX 6600 and above)
- DirectX 9.0c Compatible Sound Card
- DVD-ROM Drive (for retail copies)
- 3 GB Hard Drive Space
- Keyboard and Mouse
- DirectX 9.0c

The recommended system requirements are:

- 2.2 GHz Dual- or Quad-Core Processor
- 1 GB RAM (2 GB for Windows Vista)
- 256 MB DirectX 9 3D Video Card (Radeon X1600 / GeForce 7600 and above)

  • What do all of these purchase options mean?

Digital Download Only means that you will only receive the final release as a download through Stardock Central.

Digital Download + Collector's will give you immediate access to the final game as a digital download, plus we will ship you a retail boxed copy as well (there's an additional shipping & handling fee with this option).

  • What does the retail box include?

The standard retail box includes the game on DVD and a print manual.

If you order the game direct from Stardock you will receive the Collector's Edition. This special version includes the following bonus items: a foldout tech-tree poster, artwork posters, a hotkey card, and a music CD.

  • What gives?  My credit card says you charged me already?

Some banks put a temporary hold on credit cards for pre-orders to ensure there's enough credit available in the account. These are typically released in 24-48 hours.  Pre-orders are not charged until a major beta version is released (i.e, beta 2, beta 3, etc.).

  • Why can't I pre-order using PayPal?

Our store doesn't support PayPal charging orders on future dates. For this reason we're not able to accept PayPal for pre-orders.

  • I got a pre-order receipt in email, why can't I download the beta?

This is simply a reference number for your pre-order. You will only get a valid serial number and download information once we release the game and your credit card is charged.

  • If I buy the game using TotalGaming.net tokens, can I get access to the beta even though it may be closed?

Yes, since tokens are deducted immediately, TotalGaming.net members always gain instant access to betas.

  • How much is shipping & handling for boxed copies?  How are items shipped?

Shipping & handling currently costs $10 USD in the U.S. and $20 USD to anywhere else in the world.  Shipping is handled via the U.S. Postal Service. This is due to the weight of the special Collector's Edition box (it's packed with hefty goodness).

  • Do I have to use Stardock Central to download the game?

Yes, we do not provide game downloads as standalone downloads. You do not need to run Stardock Central to play the game, however.

  • How can I cancel or change my pre-order?

If you need to make a change to your pre-order, please email sales(at)stardock(dot)com with your request. Please allow up to two business days for a reply.

  • Is there a monthly fee for multiplayer?

There is no monthly fee to play Sins, either online or off.

Yes, pre-orders aren't charged until the game ships. That said, there is a high likelihood of an expansion, but nothing is set in stone. It was something to the effect of "there will be an expansion if the game sells well" -- combine that with the games strong showing in previews, and various polls, and I'd be willing to bet there will be an expansion.

I went to order the Colletor's edition, but $15 shipping and handling! What the is the box made of? Pure steel?

I'd love to order it, but there's no way I can justify $15 in S&H.

question - i preordered (from australia) - when i check my credit card - it says nothing, when i check my stardock account it has no past order - but i have a order number for it etc - is it just not activated until the download is available?

The orders won't actually be charged until release. If you want to confirm that your order is still in the queue, contact [email protected].

No (it would cost more), but it is full of 3lbs of additional goodies which jacks up the rate big-time.  (:(

Might be cheaper to strap the box to 5 carrier pigeons, and just have them drop it off at the porch :P

Hi

Im sure this has been covered by LOTS of people, but as a cheap ass student (damn engineering books are expensive!) There is conflicting stuff on the forums so cud someone give a definitive answer - Stardock says $10 for shipping to rest of world so I have ordered for $59.95 last week (or so) whereas this forum says $35, I cant afford a game of £47 so i will only download it... Changing my order...

Stardock takes $10 for shipping so $59.95, this extra $35 hasnt appeared on my order confirmation email... so a little confuddled... Yes I am in the UK, so any help to clear the air would be good :)

Would love the collectors stuff... looks awesome... but thats like 2 nights booze!!!! lol

Cheers for any help

Matt

If you ordered before the rates were updated a few days ago, then you'll be charged at the old lower rates.

Hi all. I've seen this question asked, but not answered, so I'll ask it again:
If I pre-order from TGN, using tokens, am I getting just the digital download or can I get the Collectors edition with the soundtrack CD and the poster? In other words, do I have to choose between a week of beta access and some extra tokens or the Collector's Edition swag and a boxed copy?
If you order with TGN tokens, that version is download-only, no box.

However, Stardock has promised to allow an option to upgrade a download only version to a box, for an extra materials fee + shipping. That option should become available once the game is released!

Users interested in doing this will need to contact [email protected] after the 4th. The media fee was to be $5 at last mention by Yarlen (plus shipping).

Also, we have adjusted the digital download only price back to $44.95. If you've already pre-ordered and haven't been charged yet, you will automatically get the lower rate. (Those from earlier in the year already got this price.)

Probably a strange question...those of us who pre-ordered Digital with a CD also - when is the CD shipping? Does it shop on release day? Or unknown?

It doesn't really matter cause the download works the same, more just curious.
The retail boxes should ship on release day or maybe the Friday before - not 100% sure yet because it depends on when they arrive from the factory.

I just wanted to triple check....
I ordered the game before beta almost a year ago for 44.95...

Was this actually charged? or only current pre-orders arent charged until the game ships. I am asking because my brother bought it for me and now i am not sure if his card was ever charged for it..

Also the 44.95 is that the collectors edition also?

Bahahhaha, I can't pre-order through PayPal!

Not happy :(
You will be able to *order* with PayPal. Just not pre-order :P
Reply #220 Top
I know that :P

I just wanted to order early, so coming early next week, I can just set my download to go.

If you had the beta, you've already paid. All direct-order boxes are CE until we post that we've run out (which shouldn't bee for a while after release).

Good news everyone!  We've received our own samples of the Collector's Edition box and it's nowhere near the 3lbs we were told it was!

What this means is that we're able to lower shipping rates:

$10 to anywhere in the United States

$20 to anywhere else in the world

We're automatically adjusting everyone's pre-order who was hit by the higher shipping rate to the ones above. So if you're in the U.S. you just saved $5 and outside the U.S. you just saved $15. ;)

And all this without posting pictures of the box?

Does anybody know who the European distributors will be?

I am from Holland and not one of the local retailers even knows when it is going to ship to Europe.
The European publisher Stardock was in talks with didn't work out, so there's not going to be any local retailers carrying the game anytime soon. :(

You'll have to import it or order directly from Stardock.
