Apple released an update to the Safari beta for both PC and Mac users.

Changes in Safari 3.0.2 for Windows beta:

  • Latest security updates
  • Improved stability
  • Fixes for text display, non-English systems, and start-up times

Changes in Safari 3.0.2 for Mac OS X beta:

  • Latest security updates
  • Improved stability
  • Improved WebKit support for Mail, iChat and Dashboard

I have downloaded the original beta, but really have only opened it up a few times, and this was on Vista. I go back and forth between Safari and Firefox on my Mac, but I haven't downloaded the Safari update for OS X yet.

Have you tried the Safari beta, and if so, is it something you see yourself using more of in the future?

I'll give the new update a spin, but the first time I tried to log on to WC with the initial Safari release it crashed while I was typing my username in the logon box & I quickly retired it (on XP).

Why try it? Firefox is better. That is not opinion; that is fact. The option of extensions lets the way you use firefox explode in possibilities. Skins change the look tenfold, whereas Safari is stuck with that gray stuff. I don't really consider not using Firefox a possibility.

I think this will go the same way as iTunes did. Although it is not the best software for this matter (see iTunes) people will get brainwashed from advertising that this as the coolest thing on earth to use (see iTunes/iPod) ignoring the fact there are better alternatives arround.
