Cap ships should have aa guns

cap ships should all have aa guns the reason for this is because if i was making a cap ship i would put aa guns on it as standard. They dont have to be extremly powerful it would just be better to have some. Like half as powerful as falck frigate. What you could do is have the auto cannons be able to shoot fighters. I knoiw kol has specail but it should have standard wepons.

well, i found that if your being harrased by fighters/bombers, you can always take out the hanger or carrier and laugh as the bombers slowly.....DIE   

But i do agree, Cap ships should have at least some armements in every area even if they are petheticly weak.

Well... I have to say that capital ships should retain their weakness to bombers. I am part of the camp that says combined arms. If you can pay for a capital ship then you can pay for a few flak frigates. Once the patch is out then they should prioritize fighter craft and your problem would be gone.

As far as current Capitals are concerned, I don't think they should be any more expensive as they are now (I don't really think they are expensive tbh, you get so much money and metal later in game). Best idea would be to implement a new and bigger class.

yes they should be weak v bomers but still be able to at least shoot at emm like they can hold thier own v like 2 groupes of emm but much higher than that and they get sverly damaged

I think its perfect how caps are vulnerable to bombers. It means you really have to think about making fighters in the cap launch bays. Combined arms is more important too. You have to think about either supporting with flaks or supporting with light carriers.

yes i meen they are still weak v bombers but can kill like 1 groupe but more than 2 groupes of bombers and your cap ship is dead (after some time) and depending on lev. I like it when the flack frigates just poon down all da fighters and combined fleets but i would still like to see auto cannons shootin fighters but hit rarely. Also what i would like to see is the cap ships holding more fighters.

like homeworld destroyers can shoot at fighters with its main guns but are inacurate but can still hit fighters

some people say it is useless being able to shoot fighters but if uv got a fleet of kols like 5 and all thier support is dead then they can still kill fighters that may attack umm and cos there are 5 destroyers they can take on quite a few fighters.

or maby the tec caps dont have aa weps but vasari and advent do cos thier ships are very advanced and expensive ....

I think it would be a really good idea if you would just edit your post instead of spamming a new post every half hour.


I like the system as it is now. It forces players to either build a balanced fleet or accept a certain weakness. Besides all capital ships have fighters to defend them from bombers should you feel the need.

If capital ships would be good against any kind of threat, then what's the point of building other ships?

sorry i just forget to edit my previous posts and i think the system as it is at mo is good but would be better if cap ships could shoot fighters but be rubbish at it as iv said alot   but it depends on hopw people feel cos i like stuf like battlestar galactica and all of its nice sexy point defenses ooooo yea

Too bad that there is no air in space...

Thats a realism issue with SINS, the sounds and expslosions wouldn't happen (well, technically the atmosphere inside the ships could catch fire but most likely it would just spill out into space). But if SINS was realistic it wouldn't be fun!

your correct lol sound can only travel through things as vibrations and it would burn cos of the oxygen in the artificail atmosphere in the ship could set fires of and explsions and you would see people flying out of the holes and exploding when they come into contact with the sunlight which is cool. I know cos iv been studying stupid physics for a gay science exam good thing science is my best subject and i love it. Also u need it to be a dentist which i do then ill get alot of $$$$$$ and you know what comes with alot cash...... girls   but ill prob spend to much time on the pc playing sins lol. I love it when it raines cos my stupid friend wont come round and go "do you want to play cricket" then i think "uuummm no! its totaly crap" lol just 25 mins then no more work xp for the night yes!!!!

All I want is that two-three fighters alone can't shoot down a lone cap ship. If that is already so I wouldn't want to see any AA guns. It would only make flak frigates and the likes unneccesary.

Yes people say that tho you make the aa on cap ships super weak so that they can only kill a few fighters or make it inaccurate or both so that the flack frigate and other aa things are like 10x as good as caps at killing fighters

As I see it, Sins of a Solar Empire is very similar to Homeworld 2 in that aspect, except it brings it to a higher level. In Homeworld 2 you fight one map, in Sins of a Solar Empire you fight galaxy-wide. And where Homeworld 2 need you to control the ships on a finer level, Sins of a Solar Empire has a smarter AI behaviour and you focus on the war on a grand scale.

The only issue I have with this is that in Homeworld 2 I care more about my capital ships, as they're much more expensive to build and it takes a long time. They become your pets. In Sins, I don't feel for my units. I just build them and send them off. I really hope to get something in Sins that I can feel for like that, something that feels special, somehow. If people understand what I mean. Even if it's only a command ship or whateer it is, something that I can only have 1 of. something that's mine, and personal.


Finally someone understands me, and that's where my flagship idea comes, see post for flagship. Since it is supposed to be your personal ship you can customized completly...oohh yeah.

I understand you and the post you quoted completely. And I sure hoped capital ships will be much more rare. But I am certain this will be possible to be modded with higher price and upkeep.

What I would want to see is the gasp when you arrive with your frigate (and less, since you can't afford a capital ship in every fleet) fleet into a system and finding out the enemy had fortified the system with THREE CAPITAL ships and their escorts! Naturally, if the current capital ships remain as common as they are a new, bigger class would be nice. More is always better, he he he!

that would be well good if you could do that mine would have 1 flack gun on it lol cos i like aa   and some other stuf that would be well cool but i dont know maby u could design it b4 the game starts that way u dont have to worry about get owned while ur making ya ship. Ps the patch is out on monday YEA!!!!!!!

well if ur going to have rarer cap ships then they need to be better or maby for tec they are common Advent little less like half the ships of tec and Vasari extremly few but i like how many cap ships you can have now

The reason we don't care as much about our Captial ships: (im using the Kol as an example)

1: First and foremost, they are weak in healthpoints and often attack (untill you level it up)

2: they dont feel like Capital ships due to their speed, maneuverability and weak HP+armour

3: They are not sexy enough, compare a picture of the vaygr capital ship with our Kol and its dead obvious that our Kol needs some swag to make it look awesome.

4: Almost no eye-candy: We are lacking alot of stuff here, emitters FX damage, debris, minor hull explosions and more lights would all help.

5: Not enough guns: it does not matter what the guns do, or if they are even effective, they could do 1 damage for all we care, we just want to see our battleships really open up on the enemy in a fire-fight.

Thats all that i can think of now, please add to the list whatever you want, comments are nice too.

yea but we cant say cos tec ships are ment to be crap and be badlymade they are traders not fighters and they are the weakest of the 3 factions but i agree maby make umm a bit better and i would like to see the marza and u know its 3 barrled ati planet gun id like to see it shoot ships. And on the left of if u are looking down the 3 barrles there is a bank of what it look like laser cannons that dont do anyting also cap ships should have torpedo tubes where the anti planet nukes come out of like homeworld torpedo tubes

Who cares what the TEC ships are supposed to be ?! we could always just make the other sides better stats-wise ! This stuff is important, currently the cap ships look HORRIBLE !
