Have you been able to reproduce it in Sins more than just the one time?

Might have just been a "perfect storm" of stuff going wrong... just that one time.

That is definetly a Video Card or Driver error. I've had that with a faulty Video Card when it refused to intitialize Direct3D draw.

If it's a one time occurance for a brief time then it might've been a hiccup of sorts. If it happened during the power surge then that might be your explaination.

Or... your video card had a heart attack and the surge revived it.

Ok that creeps me out...

HAhahaha.. yeh, thats sorta what i was thinking, Ever since i had restarted the game i havent been able to make it happen again, I think it may have been one of thows one time things, nah the power surge was about 1 day before this

be careful, if your video card did come back to life, it might come out of its case and try to steal your breath while you sleep...

ive actually seen that sort of glitch before on my pc... im pretty sure it happened cus i was stressing out the video card to much or something

i was playing the beta of lord of the rings online, now normaly with settings all on low that game lagged as well as gave low fps to my pc
on day i got curious and so i maxed out all the graphics settings on the game... boy was it pretty... anyway, it gave me about 1 fps with 3 seconds of lag, after about 15 mins in this mode i noticed a big patch of ground that looked jsut like that patch on your ship you have there

Huh... interesting, I did notice that my GPU temp was at 96o C no to long ago, (Threshold 125o C) So maby thats got somthing to do with it...
That's crazy hot at 96C...when it's under heavy load (like when playing a 3D game) it may exceed the 125C.
my gpu's max temp is around 78c

That looks like texture corruption on the skybox to me. Note that all the ships and trails and UI elements look fine. The only problem is that horizontal band around the skybox and one other section.

I had similar texture corruption on an older video card when I managed to get water on it. It worked fine otherwise for weeks, then died completely without warning. I also only got the texture corruption in one game (Company of Heroes).

So I would be concerned about whether some hardware component -- video card or maybe motherboard -- is on its last legs.
