Some UI issues

I am on my 7th game and have found a couple of issues,

One is that the empire tree keeps moving up and down on it's own making it difficult at times to give the orders you want. This has been quite frustrating at times. Also when using the slide bar it sometimes doesn't stay were I slide it to goes back to the original position.

The other is that when saving a game, in order to append a save game name I have to hold down the left mouse button to change the last letter. It works fine if I want to insert just before the last letter. I number my saves starting with how many I've played and how many saves, example: 1-1,1-2,1-3 ect. so if I want to change the second 1 to 2 or 3 I have to hold the mouse button down.

Cheers.

for the empire bar thing it might move cos u zoom in (using the mouse roller middle button) and that can make the empire tree move down or up depending on which way u are zooming. You can easily stop this from happening by keeping your pointer in the middle of the screen.

Yeah, sometimes happens with me as well. Perhaps a transparent outline around the empire bar might be handy?I don't really want to see the game screen fill up with menus, borders and frames, though I think the planet list does deserve one.

As for the save games, I do my saves a little differently but I think I know what you mean. Should be easily fixed.

Yea, I've had trouble with this too... and it is inconsistent. Sometimes your mouse has to be over the part of it that has the planet icons to make is scroll but sometimes it'll scroll if you are anywhere over it (including the pip clouds).

I save my games the same way and haven't had any trouble... I just hit the right arrow button to move the cursor to the end, hit backspace to get rid of the last number, then type the new number.

You can turn on a transparent fill behind the empire tree. See options menu.

Yes this happens at times but the problem I am having is it moves up and down while I have my mouse hovering over it about to target something, causes me to give wrong orders.

don't put your mouse over it then...

So to be clear, you're saying the empire tree scrolls up and down on its own while you're trying to use it to issue orders?

i think i know what he is saying.

say for example: my fleet is at this portion of an asteroid belt. the planet i'm looking at is my homeworld. my grouped fleet is on that asteroid sector. when i select group1 fleet, the empirescroll auto scrolls down to where your fleet is. depending on how many planets you have i tend to loose track of wich asteroid or wich planet i was just on.

i just want to know that if you guys can make it a self locater on a doubleclick on groups or planets but make the single click for calling the group before scrolling the empire screen. i mean press group1 it will send message conforming you selected group1, then on a faster double click of your group thats when the empire should scroll to where your groups are. this case you won't get lost to where you was.

it would make it easier to add ships to those group if my scroll wouldn't scroll on its own this way i don't loose track of what type of ships is not grouped and what type of ships are grouped.

i hope this was clear.

no mine doesent move on its own just when u put pointer near it and try and zoom in and i know why this happens. The reason is that iut think u want to scroll down in the empire tree not zoom in this can be simply solved by having mind reading pcs lol!

Here is one situation, you get an alert to incoming marauders so I bring up that planet on the empire tree and select my bombers now while waiting for the pirates to arrive I have my mouse ready to click on the pillagers I'm not zooming in or out in fact I'm not moving the mouse or using the buttons just waiting to attack the pillagers and the tree will move up and down one or two icons. I believe it has to do with ships arriving at planets but it interferes with issuing orders.

Cheers.
