AI tactic - Too few ships when attacking

I notice the AI waste a lot of ships by sending too few of them when they're about to attack a planet. The local pirate fleet just keeps killing them off and the AI loses a lot of ships.

I think they should plan a bit better by making a larger force before jumpin in to take a planet.

um well i am currently in a game where all the ai does is spam light frigets. ill see ten come into my planet at a time. I really think something needs to replace the light frigate.

Yes, the AI is currently quite weak and no match for a human opponent. It's unable to expand, unable to make decent attack groups, unable to match my research, etc.

I dunno how much time the devs invested in the AI to this date (not the current highest priority I guess), but I hope that it will get better with the next beta.

AI sends plenty of ships on HARD, average fleets of 15-30 ships....

Try out the new patch, he should be quite a bit better on Hard and we will be upgrading him all the way to February. He is learning quickly so don't worry, you'll have your work cut out for you. If the current state still isn't difficult enough, try placing a few AI on the same team so they will gang up on you and won't fighter each other.

I normally play 4 vs 4 on medium level. Even at medium they should build atleast 6-7 ships before heading to the next area, anything less would just be a waste...
